Job summary

Textron Systems, located in Wilmington, MA, seeks a Quality Manager to lead the AS9100-based QMS, manage the Quality Engineering group, and drive program quality and metrics. You will collaborate with production, contracts, engineering, and leadership to sustain compliance and continuous improvement across programs.

The role requires overseeing quality systems, leading root cause analysis, and developing talent while ensuring readiness for full-rate production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Science or Mathematics.
• Experience in AS9100-regulated manufacturing environments with quality leadership responsibilities.
• Six Sigma expertise and Green Belt or higher certification preferred.
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Quality Engineers and develop next generation leaders.
• Promote end-to-end Lean and Quality across suppliers, manufacturing, and customers.
• Maintain AS9100QMS processes, audits, and compliance evidence.

About This Role

The role requires AS9100-based Quality Management System (QMS) knowledge.

Responsible for implementing and maintaining the QMS, managing the Quality Engineering group, program quality, and all quality metrics.

Must collaborate with Production Control, Manufacturing, Program Management, Contracts, Engineering, HR, and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of Quality Engineers while developing the next generation of Quality Engineers and future technical and organizational leaders
• Promote an “end to end” focus on Lean & Quality – from suppliers, through our Manufacturing Processes, and ultimately – to our Internal and External customers
• Ensure all AS9100QMS processes are fully documented, properly executed, and routinely audited with objective evidence of compliance
• Assure the requirements of our AS9100 and other quality management systems are maintained, including quality reporting, corrective/preventative actions, Internal Auditing System and customer compliant tracking.
• Lead timely and effective root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
• Drive use of standardized lean and quality tools, share best practices, and benchmark other world class companies to elevate operational excellence.
• Plan, assign, and direct work activities; provide promotion and compensation recommendations; coach, train, and develop employees; and address personnel matters to maintain strong performance standards
• Analyze data, identify improvement opportunities, and implement kaizen activities or corrective actions to address risks and drive performance enhancements
• Execute quality strategies that support new product development, ensuring readiness for full-rate production
• Collaborate with the Configuration Management, Supplier Quality, FRB and QMS teams to support product and process conformance
• Oversee FMEA supporting both transition to production and maintenance updates
• Effectively use ERP and MES systems to support manufacturing and build activities
• Ensure that existing programs continue to exceed customer expectations
• Communicate issue resolution to senior management, DCMA and customers
• Maintain process and product quality scorecards to drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Lead the team in developing proactive measures to ensure product and process quality
• Support and participate in internal audit program
• Lead contract and contract document reviews to ensure requirements are clearly understood and fully met
• Monitor regulatory changes and prepare appropriate organizational responses
• Manage program and overhead costs for Quality Engineering team

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Science or Mathematics.

Experience

• 4–7 years of quality leadership experience in an AS9100‑regulated manufacturing environment
• Strong experience in Aerospace and Defense best practices
• Expert knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS)
• Successful track record of talent development and performance management
• Experience implementing and sustaining Quality Systems
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
• Familiarity with Six Sigma methods; Green Belt certification or higher preferred
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actions. Must have demonstrated statistical analysis capabilities
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Experience with Quality metric Dashboards; QlikView, Power BI, Hertzler GainSeeker
• Experience with APQP, MSA/MSE, PPAP preferred
• Skilled in QFD, problem-solving, decision making
• Strong verbal and written communications skills and able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail

Licenses/Certifications

Six Sigma certification desired

Lead Auditor certification preferred
