Job description

ONSITE - Richfield, WI | Full-Time | 1st Shift

Lead Quality Where Precision Is Everything. At Strohwig, quality isn't just a department. It's a commitment built into every component we manufacture.

We produce complex, high-precision machined components for the aerospace, defense, space, energy, and other demanding industries where accuracy, reliability, and consistency are mission-critical.

We're looking for an experienced Quality Manager who knows what it takes to lead a high-performing quality team, maintain rigorous industry standards, and drive meaningful improvements in a precision manufacturing environment.

This isn't a position where you'll simply oversee reports and procedures. You'll be actively involved in daily quality operations, solving complex manufacturing challenges, developing your team, and working alongside Manufacturing, Engineering, and Operations to ensure we deliver exceptional products to our customers.

If you're a hands-on leader who takes ownership, holds high standards, and believes quality should be built into the process rather than inspected in at the end, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do
Lead Quality Operations
  • Direct daily Quality Department operations, including receiving, in-process, final, and first article inspections.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Quality Technicians and other quality personnel.
  • Ensure products meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  • Oversee nonconforming material, inspection documentation, and equipment calibration.
  • Coordinate departmental resources to support production schedules without compromising quality.
Own Quality Systems & Compliance
  • Maintain and continuously improve our AS9100D Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Ensure compliance with applicable ISO 9001, customer-specific, regulatory, and industry requirements.
  • Manage internal quality audits and coordinate customer, registrar, and regulatory audits.
  • Maintain accurate quality documentation, procedures, and records.
  • Identify compliance risks and implement improvements that strengthen our quality systems.
Solve Problems & Drive Improvement
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce scrap, rework, nonconformances, and the cost of poor quality.
  • Monitor quality performance metrics and use data to drive measurable improvements.
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering to improve process capability, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
Support Customers & Suppliers
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for day-to-day customer quality concerns.
  • Investigate customer complaints and coordinate timely, effective corrective actions.
  • Support supplier quality performance, qualification, and corrective action activities.
  • Participate in customer audits, quality meetings, and cross-functional improvement efforts.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive quality assurance or quality management experience in precision machining or manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Working knowledge of precision inspection equipment, metrology, and measurement techniques.
  • Experience conducting root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of quality experience in precision machining, aerospace, defense, or high-precision manufacturing.
  • Previous experience supervising or managing quality teams.
  • Experience maintaining or improving an AS9100D or ISO 9001 certified Quality Management System.
  • ASQ certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA).
  • AS9100 Lead Auditor certification.
  • Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspections, Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), and customer or supplier audits.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, ITAR, and DFARS requirements.
