Job description

Our client is seeking a Quality Manager to own the Quality Management System for a high-volume manufacturing operation. This role monitors and measures the effectiveness of business and production processes against internal and external customer requirements, leads a team of Quality Engineers and Quality Supervisors, and serves as the company's key representative to customers and suppliers on all matters of quality and service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a closed-loop, integrated warranty analysis system that gives the organization fast, efficient access to warranty data
  • Lead the analysis team to a high rate of root cause identification on warranty product, reducing warranty expense and the volume of "no trouble found" results
  • Review analysis results with customer counterparts to ensure root cause ownership is properly assigned
  • Use analysis data to drive improvement actions through the appropriate product teams
  • Build strong working relationships with key customer counterparts
  • Own development of, and adherence to, the policies, procedures, and instructions of the Quality, MMOG, and ISO 14001 systems
  • Champion a safe, accident-free work environment
  • Develop and maintain Product/Model Process Control Plans (PCP)
  • Facilitate cross-functional preventive and corrective action plans based on internal and external quality results (yield, warranty, customer PPM), including failure analysis on customer returns with fast turnaround
  • Mentor cross-functional process and product improvement teams on root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action; deliver routine training to other groups
  • Coordinate customer visits
  • Own the QA portion of APQP (PPAP) on product launches
  • Resolve critical issues within policy and procedure guidelines
  • Serve as the quality representative in Lean activities
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages and directly supervises Quality Engineers and Quality Supervisors, with up to 25 total non-supervisory employees across the Quality Engineering and Reject Repair departments. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units — including interviewing, hiring, and training; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining; and addressing complaints and resolving problems, in accordance with company policy and applicable law.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or five years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ISO 14001
  • Demonstrated experience managing customer and supplier quality relationships
