Job summary

Mace is seeking a Quality Manager for a major tunnel project in New York, to establish and maintain robust quality management practices across design and construction activities.

You will define standards, lead inspections, and drive continuous improvement with cross-functional teams, ensuring regulatory compliance and accurate reporting to stakeholders. Hybrid working options are available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with construction exposure.
  • 7–10 years of proven quality management experience on large infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes and relevant tunnel construction codes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality management plan for the tunnel project.
  • Define quality standards and performance metrics for construction activities and installations.
  • Conduct inspections and audits to identify non-conformances and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, subcontractors, and QC staff to implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and project specs for tunnel work.
  • Provide training and guidance on QA best practices to project teams.
  • Prepare quality reports and KPIs to track metrics and communicate findings to stakeholders.

The Project

Mace, as part of MPA delivery partner joint venture of Mace-Parsons-Arcadis, have been selected as the Gateway Development Commissions partners of choice to support the GDC across the Gateway Program in New York, inclusive of the Hudson Tunnel Project.

The busiest rail connection between New York, New Jersey, and the Northeast Corridor, the Hudson Tunnel Project will improve capacity, reliability, and resiliency of commuter and intercity rail transit serving 800,000 daily passengers from Washington, D.C. to New York and New England. A milestone project supported by the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), the project is slated to receive nearly $12 billion in federal funding, the largest investment in a mass transit project in modern history.

You’ll Be Responsible For

You’ll Need To Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 7-10 years’ proven experience in quality management on large infrastructure projects, preferably tunnel construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management principles, construction standards, and quality assurance processes.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and regulations governing tunnel construction and underground works.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Quality management systems, ISO standards and documentation tools.
  • Certification in quality management (e.g., CQM, CQE) is a plus.

The estimated starting salary for this position is $140k. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
