Job summary

Eaton Corporation's IS AER FED Aerospace division seeks a Quality Manager to lead quality initiatives at the Middlesex, NC site, directing QMS, audits, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum five years in quality engineering in manufacturing.
  • Minimum one year in people management.
  • Minimum two years with ISO 9001/AS9100 and quality audits.
  • Experience with Six Sigma tools (A3, 8D, 5 Whys, etc.).
  • U.S. work authorization; ITAR considerations apply.

Responsibilities

  • Report onsite daily Monday–Friday at Middlesex, NC facility; relocation aid available.
  • Manage quality interface with customers and assist in complaint resolution.
  • Lead development and deployment of QMS across operations for new products.
  • Maintain internal audits and certifications (AS9100 C/D, Nadcap, ISO14001).
  • Write and maintain quality procedures and work instructions per standards.
  • Liaise with external auditors and internal quality teams during audits.
  • Lead or participate in audits of internal Quality Systems and PPAP tasks.
  • Guide cross‑functional teams on scrap reduction and process improvement.
  • Monitor QA metrics, conduct managerial reviews, and drive action plans.
  • Provide technical support to customers and suppliers; ensure conformance of shipped products.
  • Develop a scalable Quality structure aligned with strategic goals.
  • Deliver QA training and lead process capability and control plan development.
  • Oversee QA staff performance and daily activities.

Job description

Eaton’s IS AER FED Aerospace division is currently seeking a Quality Manager.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $113000 - $165000 a year.

What you’ll do:
  • This role must report onsite daily M-F at our Middlesex, NC manufacturing facility. Relocation assistance is available for a qualified candidate currently residing in the USA.
  • Manage the Quality / customer interface to proactively assure requirements are understood and satisfied, including assisting in complaint resolution, root cause determination and corrective action.
  • Guide the development, implementation, and improvement of the appropriate Quality Management Systems throughout the operation, providing quality guidance and support in the development and launch of new products, processes and services.
  • Ensure preparation and maintains internal qualifications and audits such as AS 9100 and Nadcap certifications.
  • Monitor, write and maintain quality procedures and work instructions necessary to comply with government and other customer requirements including AS9100 C/D, AS7112, and ISO14001.
  • Administer internal audit function as required to maintain AS9100 C/D, AS7112 and ISO14001.
  • Act as company liaison with external quality personnel such as: Third Party Auditors, Customer auditors, Industry/regulatory auditors, and Eaton internal auditors.
  • Participate in and/or may lead the auditing of internal Quality Systems and completes part approval documentation to assure that customers’ requirements are met in new or modified products and processes.
  • Lead or provide technical advice and counsel to cross-functional teams assigned to scrap reduction/process improvement projects / problem solving teams.
  • Evaluate organizational Quality Metrics and performs managerial reviews to evaluate results and recommend action plans to close gaps at an operational level.
  • Provide technical support to both internal and external customers and suppliers as needed.
  • Assure that product shipped meets internal and external customer requirements.
  • Develop and implement a Quality structure capable of supporting strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Implement Quality Assurance training programs and conducts training in quality related topics relative to the work.
  • Lead improvement teams in the development and evaluation of process capability, process control plans, investigation of out-of-control conditions and process audits.
  • Evaluate operational performance of the QA team to facilitate performance management, merit increase, promotions, job transfers, dismissals, commendations etc.
  • Manage the daily activities of all direct reports including performance and counsel/coach as necessary.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of one (1) year Manager of People experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with quality systems (ISO 9001, AS9100) and performing quality audits.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of demonstrated experience using problem solving & Six Sigma statistical tools (including A3, 8D, Problem Definition, Data Collection, Brainstorming, 5 Whys, Fishbone, Cause & Effect, Error Proofing, Variation Analysis, SPC, MSA, and DOE).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Previous experince with Aerospace/ automotive/ product manufacturing.
  • Six Sigma Blackbelt or Greenbelt certification.
  • ASQ, CQE, or CMQOE certification.
Skills:
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of standard manufacturing process, metal forming, assembly/test in an Aerospace environment.
  • Read and understand Blueprints, Specifications, and requirement flow down.
  • Microsoft Office application (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, etc.) experience.
  • Experience working with a unionized workforce and following proper protocol within the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance systems (ISO 9001, AS9100) and performing quality audits.
  • Expertise in problem solving tools and techniques (8D, A3, 3-Legged 5 Why, and Ishikawa Cause and Effect).
  • Expertise in special processes (i.e., Non-Destructive Testing, Welding, Heat Treating, Chemical Processing, etc.) and Nadcap certification requirements.
  • Experienced in use of continuous improvement lean manufacturing principles and scrap reduction tools (5S+, Value Stream Mapping, PDCA, Standard Work, and Poka-Yoke).
  • Experienced in use of AIAG quality tools to reduce variability and mitigate risk (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, and SPC).
