Job summary

JE Dunn is seeking a Quality Manager to lead quality assurance across projects, planning and supervising QA programs in alignment with contract documents and JE Dunn policy.

You will create project quality plans, coordinate with field and office staff, conduct QA constructability reviews, mentor teammates, and report on quality trends to drive compliant delivery. This role requires 8+ years of construction quality experience and a bachelor's in a related field, with travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Creates Project Specific Quality Plans, assigns accountability for each task.
  • Creates Project Specific Water Intrusion Plan and updates it regularly.
  • Ensures the Project Quality Status Report is completed prior to Monthly Project Review.
  • Participates in National Initiatives like QA Manual Updates and Quality University.
  • Ensures Major Quality Issues are listed and up-to-date on the Project Quality Status Report.
  • Manages and coordinates Quality support for a group (process and people).
  • Provides updated communication about quality philosophies and standards to partners and staff.
  • Interprets requirements and recommendations for quality construction methods with field and office staff.
  • Coordinates and oversees the project specific quality plan.
  • Performs QA constructability reviews for projects.
  • Plans and designs quality-related training with internal and external partners.
  • Uses QA systems to prepare reports detailing compliant/non-compliant conditions.
  • Conducts warranty investigations and recommends corrective actions.
  • Ensures field observations are documented and monitored for resolution.
  • May review and certify submittals for accuracy.
  • Participates in quality meetings and creates communication plans to mitigate issues.
  • Serves as onsite quality representative on projects and evaluates subcontractor quality performance.
  • Develops relationships with clients and partners to drive quality.
  • Provides regular updates to project leads.

Role Summary

The Quality Manager will manage and coordinate Quality support for a group. This position will be responsible for planning, implementing and supervising construction quality assurance programs in compliance with contract documents and Company policy. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core
  • Creates Project Specific Quality Plans, assigns accountability to the appropriate individuals for each task and ensures the Plan is regularly updated.
  • Creates Project Specific Water Intrusion Plan, assigns accountability to the appropriate individuals for each task and ensures the Plan is regularly updated.
  • Ensures the Project Quality Status Report is completed prior to the Monthly Project Review Meeting
  • Participates in creating National Initiatives such as Quality Assurance Manual Updates, Quality Broadcasts, Quality University, etc.
  • Ensures all Major Quality Issues are listed and up-to-date on the Project Quality Status Report
  • Manages and coordinates Quality support for a group (process and people)
  • Provides updated communication about quality philosophies, JE Dunn quality standards and values of the Company with business partners, foreman, superintendents and project managers to ensure compliance
  • Interprets company, owner and government requirements and recommendations in relation to quality construction methods and processes with field and office staff
  • Provides coordination and oversight to the project specific quality plan
  • Performs QA constructability reviews for assigned regional or national projects
  • Conducts and assists with planning and design of quality-related training programs and classes with internal employees and external business partners
  • Utilizes internal quality assurance systems and tools to prepare reports for field superintendents, project managers and subcontractors detailing compliant and non-compliant conditions
  • Conducts warranty-related investigations in support of operations and makes recommendations for corrective action
  • Ensures field observations and reporting is properly documented through internal Company systems and tools and monitors for resolution
  • May be required to review and certify submittals for accuracy
  • Participates in staff, team or quality committee meetings, fostering quality efforts, reporting on quality trends or issues and creating communication plans to mitigate the issues
  • Serves as onsite quality representative on single project or multiple projects as needed
  • Partners with project team to complete subcontractor quality performance evaluations at project completion
  • Develops robust relationships with internal and external clients, including owners, business partners, manufacturer’s reps and third-party consultants
  • Conducts routine, consistent communication/updates with supported project leads
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to other team members

  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.

  • Ability to read drawings, specifications, building codes and other technical product and material data (Advanced).
  • Knowledge of material and field testing for QA processes (Advanced).
  • Knowledge of QA procedures for a variety of construction conditions.
  • Ability to recognize non-compliant conditions and investigate corrective measures.
  • Knowledge of construction trades and scopes of work (Intermediate).
  • Ability to provide performance management feedback and complete evaluations.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.
Education
  • Bachelors’ degree in architecture, construction management or related field (Preferred).
  • In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Experience
  • 8+ years construction quality-related experience (Required).
  • 0-2 years mentoring or team leadership experience (Required).
  • Valid and unrestricted drivers license required
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet business needs
  • May require extensive periods of travel
  • Normal office environment, but may be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)
  • Frequent activity: Standing, Walking, Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen
  • Occasional activity: Bending, Reaching above Shoulder
