Job summary

The Walsh Group - Walsh Construction & Archer Western is seeking a Quality Manager I for a Federal project in the Greater Sacramento area. This role oversees the Quality Management System, ensures compliance with policies, and drives continuous improvement across the project.

You will mentor staff, manage QC processes, and coordinate with operations and clients to deliver safe, quality, and efficient project execution. Equal opportunity employer with bonus potential.

Qualifications

• AEC degree or equivalent with related certifications such as ICC/NICET
• Minimum 7 years of AEC experience, with 3 years in a Quality role
• Knowledge of standards, specifications and publications relevant to job duties
• Limited travel for projects as necessary
• USACE/NAVFAC/NRC Construction Quality Management certification preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Quality champion for a project or multiple projects, responsible for quality of works, materials, documentation and close-out.
• Coaches, mentors and trains project staff in quality management principles and project-specific requirements.
• Leads quality processes: work planning, pre-activity meetings, material management, QC incident reports and follow-up inspections.
• Establishes, monitors and reports on KPIs and QIRs for project teams to drive continuous improvement.
• Audits project quality programs and provides feedback on major QIRs and non-conformances.
• Directs inspection, testing and documentation; schedules inspections with operations, labs and Client.
• Creates project-specific inspection/test plans, QC plans and related procedures; reviews material specs like concrete mix design.
• Implements risk management strategies to improve profitability via process management.
• Maintains relationships with owners, clients, subcontractors and stakeholders for issue resolution.
• Supports Site Safety to ensure compliance with safety procedures and goals.
• Monitors project quality costs, rework costs, and informs on budget implications.
