Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands, based in Cary, NC, is hiring a Quality Technician to maintain QA processes, test samples and record results. You will lead shift coverage, drive corrective actions, and ensure 100% rework decisions when defects are found, using SafetyCulture, Tablet PC, and QA tools.

You will train technicians, perform CTQ/CFA audits, and support line startups with leadership. A strong focus on NDF and continuous improvement is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read and write, use Outlook and Excel on Tablet PC.
• Ability to read a tape measure, calipers, micrometers; knowledge about measurement and test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains quality assurance processes, tests product samples, analyzes/records results data and reports issues that deviate from standards.
• Oversees job assignment coverage/rotations for all Quality Technicians on assigned shift.
• Leads root cause 5 Whys when defect is found; implement corrective actions and 100% rework of defective product.
• Performs CTQ/CFA audits, trains technicians to No Defect Forward (NDF).
• Conducts tests, reports NCRs, uses tablet PC for audits and data compilation.
• Researches data with SafetyCulture and Excel; supports line startup approvals with Leadership.

Job Description

Maintains quality assurance processes, tests product samples, analyzes/records results data and reports issues that deviate from allowable standards/tolerances. Dunk Tank, Water Wall, CTQ, CFA, NDF, QC Flag Process, NCR, QPS, 5S, Kaizen Continuous Improvement.

Oversees job assignment coverage/rotations for all Quality Technicians on assigned shift. Leads QPS Root Cause 5 Whys when defect is found by 100% EOLI. Quickly identify source of defect, implement corrective actions, oversee 100% rework of all defective product and line startup approval with Leadership Team.

Performs CTQ Audits using SafetyCulture on Tablet PC

Performs CFA Audits using SafetyCulture on Tablet PC

Trains Quality Technicians and Operators to comply with No Defect Forward (NDF)

Conduct Frame Weld Strength Testing, as required

Perform all quality testing as required by AAMA specifications

Perform functional and fabrication checks as required by standard practice

Report issues deviating from allowable tolerances. Generate NCR using Tablet PC.

Use Tablet PC to perform quality audits and generate Non‑Conforming Reports (NCR)

Research and compile data using Safety Culture and Excel, as requested

Utilize band saw to cut pieces as needed for impact testing and weld strength testing

Perform 100% EOLI on vinyl lines, rotating to a different line every 2 weeks.

Perform Dunk Tank / Water Wall Tests.

Assist Leadership determine root cause of issues using QPS 5 Whys quick problem‑solving process.

Maintain cleanliness, sweep area as needed

Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read and write, use Outlook and Excel on Tablet PC.
• Ability to read a tape measure, calipers, micrometers; knowledge about measurement and test equipment,
• Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
