Job summary

AIM Solder in El Paso, TX seeks a Quality Laboratory Technician to analyze samples from production, warehouse, and returns ensuring materials meet specifications and regulatory standards. You will support the QC laboratory in maintaining compliance and perform analyses on solder materials, flux, and related samples.

Responsibilities include sample prep, analytical testing, inspections, documentation, and instrument calibration.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in a related field.
  • Basic chemistry knowledge preferred.
  • Experience in quality assurance.
  • Responsible, autonomous, meticulous, organized.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
  • Computer skills such as ERP system and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of 9001/14001/ISO TS/IATF standards, an asset.
  • English, Spanish an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples for analysis through melting, polishing, acid digestion, tempering, mixing, weighing.
  • Prepare analytical standards for atomic absorption testing.
  • Analyze metallic samples using spectrometry.
  • Perform solution analyses by atomic absorption.
  • Conduct analyses of solder materials, including wire, bar, and ribbon solder; solder paste and solder powder.
  • Analyze liquid and medium flux samples.
  • Perform incoming raw material inspection and receive it into inventory.
  • Perform first-piece and last-piece inspections for all products.
  • Perform final inspections of all finished products.
  • Control and management of retained/rejected material.
  • Review and verify product labels.
  • When applicable, generate non-conformity reports (NCR).
  • Prepare Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
  • Enter test results into designated systems and databases.
  • Communicate analytical results to relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Perform blanks and calibration curves required for equipment operation.
  • Conduct instrument verifications according to the calibration/verification program.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper working conditions of laboratory equipment and work areas.
  • Manage storage, control, and disposal of witness samples.
  • Maintain inventory of materials required for testing and analysis.
  • Request materials from the tool crib and initiate maintenance work orders when necessary.
  • Participate in Measurement System Analysis (MSA) activities.
  • Support the development and implementation of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods.
  • Report any issues or nonconformities to the Laboratory Supervisor.
  • Support corrective and preventive action development.
  • Perform additional assigned duties as required.
  • Serve as backup technician when needed.
  • Report any potential environmental issues.
  • Participate in environmental activities assigned by management.
  • Hold or reject materials that are out of specification or suspected of nonconformance.
  • Stop processes when nonconforming products are identified.

Summary

As a Quality Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for performing chemical and physical analyses on samples originating from production, warehouse, customer returns, and other internal sources. This role ensures that materials meet established specifications and supports the Quality Control (QC) laboratory in maintaining compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.

Sample Preparation & Analysis
