Job Overview

Working in conjunction with the Quality department, the Quality Laboratory Technician prepares samples for laboratory analysis and maintains documentation of processes to facilitate analysis procedures. This role requires meticulous execution of laboratory methodologies and SOPs within microbiological, physical, and organoleptic analysis. The position may also entail coordinating external laboratory testing and entry of lab reports.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing, blending, and testing samples according to SOPs.
  2. Execute microbiological testing according to the analysis process.
  3. Perform and document additional testing per lab testing forms and specifications.
  4. Set up, calibrate, and sterilize equipment needed for analysis.
  5. Execute physical and organoleptic product analysis per established SOPs.
  6. Maintain records of all quality activities as documented in procedures and test methods.
  7. Notify Quality Lab Manager of any deviations or potential nonconformances.
  8. Coordinate and track third-party lab testing as needed.
  9. Perform other testing or duties as assigned.
Experience & Knowledge
  • One or more years of laboratory experience (professional and/or educational) in microbiology, biology, food science, or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
    • Organized, detail-oriented, with a good work ethic and positive attitude.
    • Strong prioritization and time-management skills.
    • Critical and analytical thinking abilities.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Teamwork and continuous improvement mindset.
    • Proficiency in basic computing, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or Biological Sciences preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Repetitive tasks utilizing arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Completion of physical requirements with or without accommodation.
Working Conditions
  • Laboratory setting, working alongside team members.
Additional Details
  • Expected Pay Range: $22/hr - $24/hr, non-exempt.
  • Bonus and incentive programs may apply.
