Job summary

Quikrete is seeking a Quality Lab Technician for our Newberry, FL plant. You will ensure lab equipment operates within specifications and that testing follows current standards, reporting to the Quality Manager and Quality Coordinator.

The role requires operating lab and X-ray equipment, using LDMS/ICMS/Plant Focus, and collaborating with other departments to resolve quality issues. A high school diploma and knowledge of chemistry are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma.
• Knowledge of chemistry and mathematics.
• Experience with computers and Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Knowledge of the cement manufacturing process.
• Ability to evaluate data without supervision.
• Make decisions and communicate well both verbally and in writing.
• Work well under the pressure of annual external reference lab inspections and annual proficiency testing.
• Preferred: two-year associate’s degree in related field.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willing to work a 12‑hour rotating schedule.

Responsibilities

• Performs all tasks in a safe and professional manner in conformance with Plant rules, quality standards and Company policies.
• Perform analysis on samples such as raw material, raw mill, clinker, coal, cement.
• Ensure all laboratory equipment is working properly.
• Ensure servicing and training requirements are met for all laboratory equipment.
• Perform inspections and maintenance on laboratory equipment.
• Report any test results falling outside of KPIs or ASTM / AASHTO specifications.
• Perform adjustments and minor repairs to equipment as required.
• Use LDMS, ICMS, Plant Focus, or other computerized management tools.
• Inspect laboratory and quality control equipment on a regular basis and prepare work orders as required.
• Ensure proper disposal of chemicals and samples.
• Work with other departments to solve quality related problems.
• Sample, split, package, and ship samples for third party testing.
