Job summary

SSAB in Mobile, AL is seeking a Lab Operator to support production and shipping by ensuring products meet quality requirements. The role involves operating testing equipment like Tensile, Charpy, Bend and Brinell, and machining equipment, plus maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience (or the ability to learn) in CNC machining operation.
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance.
• Ability to interpret ASTM/EN/API/ABS/CSA specifications.
• Good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365.
• Good communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to maintain safe work area.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate testing equipment (Tensile, Charpy, Bend & Brinell) and machining equipment (HDMI-plasma cutter & CNC machine).
• Safely operate sample preparation equipment and learn MES and lab test requirements.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Cross train in all other labs to provide coverage as needed.
• Complete training within designated timeframes and attend required meetings.
• Support the company’s goals and adhere to policies and procedures.
