Job summary

Job DetailsJob Location: Transaxle Manufacturing of America - Rock Hill, SC 29730

Summary: Directs and coordinates the quality assurance department and associated employees in the inspection of parts, components, and materials produced by subcontractors and vendors by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

JOB DESCRIPTION.

Include (but not limited to) the following:

  • Supervisory responsibility includes management of employee performance, discipline, development and resource planning; leading the activities of the assigned team members in accordance with work instructions and Company policy to ensure a quality product is delivered on time.
  • Conduct routine audits to ensure components are stored in the correct environment for safety and personnel safety, and that storage and handling procedures are within TMA's guidelines.
  • Ensure and assist routine component inspections, reporting of results and follow up inspections of any necessary corrective actions; (PPAP, Critical Parts, SCAR & special investigations). Ensure records maintained including logging of results.
  • Utilization of metrology instrument including (not limited to): CMM, Micro and Macro Hardness testing, profile tracer, optical comparator, calipers, micrometers and height/depth gages.
  • Monitor inventory levels in quality receiving inspection location to ensure correct scanning and moving of product. Includes off-site warehouse classification of parts.
  • Maintains critical parts list and ensure flags are maintained in inventory ERP System.
  • Monitor quarantine cage to ensure accuracy of information for defective parts and timely disposition of scrap both internal and external.
  • Schedule and prepare for 3rd party calibrations of laboratory instruments and SMA's (supplier maintenance agreements) for CMM's.
  • Assist in resolving issues with raw materials, finished products and packaging materials.
  • Complete freight claims forms with quality information for inspections and disposition of material.
  • Communicate with suppliers and supply management to provide follow-up information on defective products as requested.
  • Assist SQE's and QE's in determining gaging needs for new and existing product to meet inspection requirements. Order gages as required. Review inspection standards for viability of gaging methods.
  • Supervise product evaluations of components; ensure that all QA testing equipment is calibrated and maintained as required.
  • Adhere to established inspection protocols, policies and procedures to achieve stated manufacturing objectives, monitor progress and take action to achieve them; document and develop written departmental procedures.
  • Utilize problem solving techniques, teamwork building strategies, process control, and continuous process improvement tools to meet or exceed the facility key operating statistics.
  • Maintain and control QA documentation and assist with preparation and management of third party and supplier sorts; ensure departmental files are always current and available for inspection.
  • Establish a high morale workplace with the highest ethical standards, and an environment and culture that promotes safety in the workplace.
  • Support and enforce the manufacturing facility's 5S policy as the area owner in conjunction with the 5S coordinator; actively participate in the Company's 5S audit program and resolve any assigned corrective actions as necessary.
  • Participate in achieving or exceeding annual targeted operational objectives and Key Performance Indicators to maintain throughput and accuracy of the QA receiving department.
  • Develop supportive relationships with Operations and Support staff (Warehouse, SQE, QE, Lead production supervisor & supply Management).
  • Interfaces with Supply Management and Supplier Quality Engineer to address non-conforming parts issues. Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Partner with Human Resources to resolve employee relations concerns and to consistently administer disciplinary action when needed.
  • Supports periodic and special surveys of subcontractors' facilities and manufacturing processes to determine adequacy and capability of quality control and ability to comply with complete quality specifications.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use or purchase of equipment to increase efficiency of the Quality Assurance Department.
QUALIFICATIONS.

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications are not required but preferred:

  1. ASQ member
  2. AGMA certification
