Job summary

General Mills is seeking a Quality Lab Assistant (QLA) at the Buffalo Plant for a 3‑month summer assignment. You will learn food safety and quality basics while supporting lab tasks and production teams.

The role offers a 7:00 am–3:00 pm day shift with potential weekend work. A BS/BA in related fields and a 3.0+ GPA are preferred as you gain exposure to lab technician duties and quality engineering concepts.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute assigned projects in the quality lab.
• Learn the lab technician role and responsibilities.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance or Logistics to complete tasks.
• Shadow Quality Engineers to learn daily QA activities.
• Support production by understanding the process and building cross‑functional relationships.

**Overview**The General Mills Buffalo Plant manufactures both Flour and Cereal products for General Mills’ North America Retail and North America Food Service segments. Our flour products are targeted to a wide variety of customers within our North America Food Service division. Our cereal products include a variety of sizes and configurations of Cheerios, Lucky Charms, and Chex. Operating since 1903, the Buffalo plant has a long history in downtown Buffalo, making the city smell like Cheerios since 1941.The Quality Lab Assistant (QLA) role is designed to provide individuals with an opportunity to learn about food safety and quality at a General Mills facility, learn more about the Lab Technician and Quality Engineer roles, and bring new ideas and continuous improvement strategies to the plant.
