Job summary

PennEngineering is offering a 2027 intern program for a dedicated Quality Intern. The 10-12 week summer internship provides hands-on experience, mentoring, and exposure to manufacturing and research facilities.

You will engage with leaders to discuss strategy, contribute to quality initiatives, and build a professional network. The role focuses on safeguarding product performance, customer-centered initiatives, and clear communication.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a field aligned with quality (Quality, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Materials Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management tools.

Responsibilities

• Initial Issue Management: work on the 5W1H process inside EQMS to communicate customer concerns to manufacturing locations and support containment actions.
• Project Work: assist with corrosion performance improvement research and related implementations.
• Data Tracking and Reporting: maintain sustainability metrics and prepare management reports; support 8D completion with locations.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and detail‑oriented Quality Intern to join our team. This role is essential in supporting our quality and customer‑centered initiatives and ensuring compliance with product performance and applications understanding. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the voice of the customer, possess strong communication skills, and be able to manage multiple tasks effectively.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Initial Issue Management:
  • Prepare and maintain the 5W1H process inside of our EQMS process to provide clear and initial communication to our manufacturing locations regarding the key elements of a customer concern. This may include the work on initial containment actions in tandem with our manufacturing locations to control costs.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (including other quality liaisons and suppliers) to gather necessary documentation and data for reporting.
  • Work on the development of our AI tools for dashboard building
    • Axion, SQUINT, Claude, etc.
  • Project Work:
    • Assist with the research and associated implementations for our project focused on corrosion performance improvements.
    • Provide clear and accurate information to enhance customer understanding and satisfaction of any associated process changes.
  • Data Tracking and Reporting:
    • Maintain records of sustainability metrics and compliance documentation.
    • Assist in preparing reports for management on issue resolution and work with the manufacturing locations on 8D completion as needed.
