Job summary

PennEngineering in Danboro, PA invites motivated students to join its 2027 intern program. Over 10–12 weeks you’ll gain hands-on experience, work with mentors, and contribute to manufacturing, operations, or technology development.

You will support quality engineers, assist with inspections and CAPA activities, and learn Lean and Six Sigma methods while building a professional network and preparing for a future in engineering.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Interest in manufacturing, process improvement, and quality assurance.
  • Familiarity with measurement analysis and data collection.
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support quality engineers in production, quality, and process improvement.
  • Assist with quality inspections, data collection, and measurement analysis.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and CAPA activities.
  • Help maintain quality documentation, procedures, control plans, and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to implement process improvements.
  • Conduct statistical analysis of quality metrics and report trends.
  • Support internal audits and preparation for audits.
  • Learn Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to solve problems and optimize processes.
  • Work on special projects assigned by quality leadership, with an emphasis on learning and practical application.

Over the course of our 10–12-week summer internship experience you will have the opportunity to:

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Support quality engineers in daily activities related to production, product quality, and process improvement.
  • Assist with quality inspections, data collection, and measurement analysis to ensure product conformance.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities.
  • Help maintain and improve quality documentation, including inspection procedures, control plans, and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to identify and implement opportunities for process improvements.
  • Conduct statistical analysis of quality metrics and assist in reporting trends.
  • Support internal audits and preparation for customer or regulatory audits.
  • Learn and utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to solve problems and optimize processes.
  • Work on special projects assigned by quality leadership, with an emphasis on learning and practical application.

Requirements
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field).
  • Strong interest in manufacturing, process improvement, and quality assurance.
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with statistical tools a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NEEEDED
  • Must be able to navigate entire facility and be on their feet for at least 1-hour intervals
  • Visual acuity for detailed work
