Join our team as Quality Inspector!

The primary responsibility of the Quality Inspector is to ensure product quality by completing first piece, in-process, and final product inspection while maintaining a record of all inspection data.

Shift -Weekend Nights Fri - Sun 6PM-6AM


What you will do
  • Complete inspection operations while following prescribed sampling plans
  • Read customer prints and associated job documentation and make sure all requirements are met. This includes but is not limited to: basic dimensions, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, surface finish, material type, and plating/finish requirements
  • Record and archive inspection results
  • Write up parts requiring reworks or remakes via non-conformance reports and route them to the proper operations
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following all shop floor rules
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness in the workplace and ensure all tools are properly stored and accounted for when not in use
  • Additional duties as assigned by Quality Manager
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you will do
  • Mechanical aptitude; previous experience in a machine shop, preferably with CNC machining is helpful
  • Detail oriented and thorough is a MUST
  • Sense of urgency
  • Blueprint/CAD print reading
  • Navigate 3D models in CAD software
  • Following prescribed sampling plans to complete product inspection
  • Using various measuring devices, including: calipers, thread gauges, pin gauges, digital height gauge
  • Basic computer skills necessary; must be familiar with Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime
  • Good decision-making, follow-up, and follow-through
  • Inclination to ask questions and learn
  • Customer focused
  • Related experience with certification in assigned area preferred.
  • Good Math Skills
  • Ability to use measurement tools
  • Able to lift 25+ lbs on a regular basis

$18.08 - $24.42 an hour
Protolabs offers a competitive total rewards package, and compensation mix vary based on position, such as base wage, as well as other earnings including incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, job function, work experience, specialized skills, training, education, and certifications.

Physical Demands:

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit; use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse, telephone and printer; reach with hands, and arms, talk, see and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop or kneel and must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.

Work Environment:

Indoors (A/C); nonsmoking; the majority of this job function is performed in a manufacturing area exposed to machinery and noise; with eye protection and safety shoes required. Occasionally works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
