Job summary

A leader in aerospace technology is seeking a Quality Inspector to utilize inspection equipment and ensure compliance with engineering specifications. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, experience in mechanical inspection, and the ability to read technical drawings. Located in Westminster, MD, this role is onsite and requires communication with suppliers to resolve discrepancies. Job description

QUALITY INSPECTOR (STARSHIP)
  • Utilize inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and profilometer
  • Approve or reject items and document inspection results as required
  • Perform documentation review and verification of certifications, specifications, and conformance to design requirements through eCerts or physical copies
  • Communicate with internal customers and suppliers to resolve inspection discrepancies
  • Complete surface plate work/inspection of machined aerospace parts
  • Support quality management system policies and procedure documentation, assess compliance with company and industry standards, initiate and lead continual improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Inspect flight hardware at the supplier according to engineering drawings, purchase order(s), industry standards, and SpaceX specifications
  • Use electronic MRP system to route parts and components to proper departments
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 1+ years of receiving, precision, mechanical, or metrological inspection experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience operating a forklift or other material handling motorized vehicles and equipment
  • Practical experience working within quality management systems (AS9100 and ISO 9001)
  • Experience within the aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, or electronic fields
  • Experience detecting design and drawing flaws
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications using ASME Y14.5
  • Experience with GD&T and use of metrology tools and gauges
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • This position is based in Westminster, MD and requires being onsite - remote work not considered
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as necessary
  • Willing to travel (up to 10%)
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Pay range:
Level 1: $25.00 - $31.00/hour
Level 2: $29.00 - $37.00/hour
Level 3: $34.00 - $43.00/hour

Pay range: $25.00 - $31.00/hour for Level 1 $29.00 - $37.00/hour for Level 2 $34.00 - $43.00/hour for Level 3

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job‑related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long‑term incentives, in the form of company stock or long‑term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Employees accrue paid sick leave pursuant to Company policy which satisfies or exceeds the accrual, carryover, and use requirements of the law.
