Job summary

Red Valve seeks a Quality Inspector to perform a variety of quality control tests and inspections on products, materials, components, and assemblies to ensure compliance with quality standards. This rotational role covers multiple quality processes, determined by the Quality Manager.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in quality, strong math and measurement skills, and experience reading drawings. This position requires adherence to ISO procedures and a willingness to work a 4x10 shift per week.

Qualifications

A Red Valve Quality Inspector

must be a highly motivated, creative, self-starter who will perform a variety of quality control tests/inspections on products, materials, components, and parts, at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with quality and reliability standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the desire and ability to drive change, identify business needs, areas of improvement and objectives through research and data-backed decision making that will empower them to make recommendations on appropriate business initiatives.

Based on the needs of the business, this is a rotational position throughout the facility, covering a variety of quality processes and/or initiatives. The rotational schedule will be determined by the Quality Manager as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following
  • Ensure quality of manufactured goods
  • Inspect finished goods
  • Examine materials from suppliers before sending them to production
  • Inspect components, subassemblies, and assemblies
  • Perform quick visual inspections
  • Perform complex tests using instruments and equipment
  • Test, measure, and analyze products
  • Take samples for testing
  • Ensure company is meeting the standard codes in the manufacturing process
  • Record pass/fail grade of products
  • Produce detailed reports
  • Comply with various ISO operating procedures, work instructions
  • Observe dials, gauges and indicators to make sure that a machine is working properly
  • Count numbers of products tested or inspected
  • Process associated documentation including process tags, rework tags and nonconforming material documents
  • RMA - issuing and processing
  • Responsible for final inspection and signoff, and will stamp "OK-Lead"
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or a minimum of two years related manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in quality inspecting.

Skills/Experience
  • 3+ years of quality or other related business experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline is preferred or equivalent field experience or training
  • Practical knowledge of Lean business practices
  • Excellent time management, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to read, interpret and work from drawing, specifications and standards
  • Ability to inspect parts & components to tight tolerances and specifications
  • Required: Basic ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
  • Required: Intermediate knowledge and skills in the use of standard mechanical and electrical instruments, gauges and test rigs
  • Required: Basic ability to work under direct supervision and to follow written instructions and techniques
  • Required: Basic ability to write simple correspondence
  • Required: Basic efficient time management
  • Required: Intermediate decision making
  • Required: Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft office

WORKING CONDITIONS

Ability to work in normal manufacturing and varying climate control office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron, and boots). Stress may result from workload and meeting schedules. Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs. The ability to multitask is essential job function for this role.

  • Shift schedule is (4) 10- hour days Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 4:30pm
  • Friday is reserved for overtime as necessary and may be required
  • Exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise level
