The Quality Inspector / Packer is a hybrid role supporting both the Quality Assurance and Production teams. This position is responsible for inspecting incoming, in-process, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards while also supporting production by assembling, packing, and preparing products for shipment.
This role helps ensure that Oakworks products meet company quality standards and customer expectations through accurate inspections, proper documentation, and efficient packaging and shipping preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Responsibilities
- Perform inspection of incoming materials, work-in-process (WIP), subassemblies, and finished products.
- Inspect materials from Mill and Metal departments and verify conformance to specifications.
- Identify and properly document nonconforming materials or products.
- Assist in coordinating and processing nonconformance disposition activities.
- Maintain accurate and complete quality records following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Support quality performance tracking for production and suppliers.
- Collaborate with Quality Engineers and Production teams to address quality concerns.
- Perform necessary inventory and quality system transactions.
Production & Packing Responsibilities
- Prepare finished products and components for shipment including medical, spa, and massage tables.
- Align and stage finished products for packing and shipment.
- Collect, verify, and scan required documentation.
- Assemble and verify parts and accessories according to packing lists.
- Install braces and required packing components.
- Box finished frames and protect components using bubble wrap and packing materials.
- Secure packaging by taping, strapping, and labeling shipments
QualificationsQualifications:
Education:
Must have High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Preferred 1–2 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience reading work instructions, engineering drawings, and tolerances. Hands-on experience with inspection and measurement tools preferred.
Technical Skills:
Preferred experience using tools such as:
- Calipers
- Height gauges
- Dial indicators
- Multimeters
- Inspection fixtures
- Electrical testing equipment
Additional skills:
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and scanning systems)
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining and welding inspection preferred
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Ability to stand, walk, or move throughout the shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Operate hand tools up to 10 lbs repeatedly
- Frequent bending, reaching, and stretching
- Ability to distinguish colors
- Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to:
- Wood dust
- Metal dust
- Lacquer and finishing materials
- Work in environments with seasonal temperature variations
