Job summary

SQA Services is recruiting for a full-time on-site Inspector to perform precision mechanical inspections at supplier sites in the greater Houston area. You will verify workmanship, read and interpret drawings, and ensure conformance to specs using micrometers, CMMs and related tools.

Applicants should have 5+ years hands-on experience with precision parts, strong GD&T skills, and the ability to read complex manufacturing drawings. US citizenship and background checks are required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct precision mechanical inspections at client supplier sites in the Houston area.

• Perform first article and in-process inspections; lot sampling as required.
• Utilize micrometers, calipers, height gauges, CMMs and related tools.
• Review and verify certificates of conformance and documentation.

What to expect:

You will be part of a global inspection team assuring the quality of components and assemblies that this global aerospace leader is sourcing from one or more suppliers in this area. Once on the team, you will be deployed through SQA's operations center based on client needs and each supplier's production schedule. This is a full-time position with travel ( $0.78 per mile)

• You will be conducting precision mechanical inspections at various client suppliers in the greater Houston, TX and surrounding area.
• Perform precision inspection verifications on mechanical parts, components, assemblies, and materials
• Inspection may include but is not limited to purchased parts, in-process and final assemblies, and materials for workmanship and conformance to specifications/drawings
• Perform surface plate inspection of the first article, in-process, and lot sample parts if required
• Utilize inspection equipment such as micrometers, gauge blocks, dial indicators, height gauges, optical comparators, profilometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) if necessary
• Visual acuity and the ability to detect defects in highly complex products
• Verify documentation packages to industry/commodity-specific standards
• Classify defect types, and verify rework conducted during the time of the inspection
• Must have 5 or more years of hands-on industry experience with precise machine parts
• Ability to use technology and adapt to new software
• Be able to read and interpret standard manufacturing drawings based on industry and commodity standards
• Strong GD&T experience and capable of validating dimensions (total tolerances >/=.005" with Minimal GD&T validation) utilizing standard hand tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gages)
• Experience with certificate of conformances
• Operating Coordinate Measuring Machine experience is a plus
• Due to the nature of the products, US Citizenship is also a requirement, and background checks are required
