Job summary

Linamar Corporation in Southfield, MI is seeking a Quality Inspector I to uphold quality standards by inspecting incoming materials, monitoring production, and approving finished parts to ensure compliance with drawings and customer requirements.

You will use gauges, micrometers, verniers, and CMMs, record results, and communicate deviations. A high school diploma and at least 1 year in automotive manufacturing are required; familiarity with GD&T and SPC is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in automotive manufacturing environment or equivalent education.
  • Knowledge and ability to use measuring equipment, such as micrometers, verniers, height and bore gauges.
  • Ability to operate CMM and interpret inspection results.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both individual and team settings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn new software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings and GD&T symbols.
  • Ability to learn and apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) concepts.

  • Product Audits: Measure all part features to ensure drawing compliance.
  • Final release inspections: Evaluate parts and authorize shipment to customer.
  • Apply IATF standards for handling non-conforming material.
  • Use documentation related to quality inspections.
  • Communicate and report any product deviations found to relevant individuals.
  • Adhere to Health, safety, environmental policies.

Job Title: Quality Inspector I

Responsibility

  • Receiving Inspections: Assess incoming material based on product specifications to ensure required standards.
  • In process inspections: Monitor and inspect parts during production process to ensure ongoing compliance with quality standards.
  • First off inspection: Inspect part specifications and authorize full production.
  • Product Audits: Conduct full layout all part features by measuring all part features to ensure compliance with drawing specifications.
  • Final release inspections: Evaluate parts and authorize shipment of parts to the customer.
  • Apply IATF standards for handling non-conforming material, including identification and inspection procedures.
  • Use appropriate documentation related to quality inspections.
  • Communicate and report any product deviations found to relevant individuals.
  • Adhere to all Health and safety, environmental legislation, policies and procedures.
Academic/Educational Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Required Skills/Experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience in automotive manufacturing environment or equivalent education.
