Job summary

Amtec in California is seeking an experienced quality inspector to perform visual, dimensional, and environmental inspections across assembly and manufacturing processes. You will generate FAIRs, review measurements, and ensure accurate documentation in support of our QMS.

Travel to customer and supplier sites may be required. The role requires 2+ years in manufacturing quality, familiarity with measurement tools, and AS9100/ISO9001 awareness.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma; associate degree preferred.
• At least 2 years of manufacturing quality experience.
• ASQ CQI certification is preferred.
• Experience using measurement tools like calipers and micrometers.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspection using drawings and procedures.
• Create First Article Inspection reports (FAIR) and document test data.
• Review and approve inspection measurements and records.
• Maintain inspection records per company procedures.
• Read and interpret internal/customer drawings and specs.
• Support QMS with ISO 9001 awareness and AS9100 audits.
• Assist in corrective/preventive actions.

Summary:

Performs and verifies visual, dimensional, electrical, mechanical, environmental and chemical inspection functions. The inspections relate to source, first article, receiving, in process, and final operations using company or customer supplied drawings, equipment and procedures.Individual may be required to work overtime and travel to customer and/or supplier sites when requested.

Position Duties:

• Performs inspection tasks using mechanical measuring equipment and drawings
• Perform visual inspection on circuit board assemblies
• Able to generate detail and comprehensive First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR)
• Reviews and approves inspection measurements and recorded test data
• Maintenance of inspection records in accordance with company procedures
• Able to read and interpret internal and customer mechanical/electrical drawings, procedures and specifications
• General understanding of ISO 9001 requirements in support our QMS
• Perform Quality Systems Audit per AS9100 requirements
• Generate and assist in the corrective/preventive action process
• And other duties as required by the respective supervisor/manager

Qualifications:

• High School graduate minimum, AA certificate or above .
• At least 2 years of manufacturing experience
• American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)
• Must use or be trainable in the use of basic measuring tools (caliper, micrometer, dial indicators, surface plate setups)
• IPC 610 / J-STD-001 soldering certificate or equivalent training
• Experience working under a microscope
• Former FAA DMIR/ODA Unit Member desired experience
