Job summary

Regal Rexnord is seeking a Quality Inspector II for the Aerospace Business Unit in the Twinsburg area. The role involves ensuring conformance to engineering specs and quality performance while using calipers, micrometers, height stands, dial indicators, comparators and vision systems.

You will drive improvements in quality and support SQDC metrics, working with shop floor and quality teams to meet deadlines and production targets. Prior aerospace DSQR and AS9102 knowledge is highly valued.

Qualifications

  • US Person with US permanent residence.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2-3 years Aerospace DSQR experience a plus.
  • ASQ Certified CQT/CMI a plus.
  • Knowledge of AS9102 FAI and quality planning tools (SPC, GR&R, Cpk, GD&T, DMAIC, First Piece Inspection, Cost of Quality).
  • Understanding aviation industry compliance standards (ISO/AS 9000, ISO 10012, AS9100, ISO9001, FAA FAR).
  • Strong calibration/metrology knowledge and gauging methodologies; blue print interpretation; CP analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure strict adherence to Company Safety and Work rules.
  • Perform inspection operations across Final, Receiving QC, Pre/Post OSP, In-Process, First Article Inspection.
  • Create nonconformance reports (NCRs) when discrepancies are detected.
  • Remove discrepant material from production areas.
  • Maintain and support SQDC metrics in all areas.
  • Ensure quality requirements are followed and document procedures and forms.
  • Maintain inspection data and ensure paperwork is organized at end of shift.
  • Coordinate with Quality team to optimize flow and coverage.
  • Escalate quality issues or stoppages immediately.
  • Set up and adjust gauges per specifications; verify gauges.
  • Collaborate with quality engineering on gauging design and improvements.
  • Assist manufacturing in troubleshooting gauge issues.

Quality Inspector II

Aerospace Business Unit

Rexnord Aerospace supplies high performance spherical and cylindrical bearings, mechanical seals, gears and electrical components to commercial air transport markets. Our products are engineered to meet stringent requirements and are specified in engine systems, flight control systems, landing gear systems and airframe structures. Our global customer base includes major engine and airframe OEMs, tier suppliers and aircraft operators.

Job Summary

This position is a critical link between the shop floor associates, and the engineering specifications and requirements. The person in this role will ensure that quality performance standards are met and takes appropriate action where necessary to meet agreed deadlines, quality performance, and production targets. The Quality Inspector is proficient using standard measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height stands, dial indicators, comparators, and vision systems to verify products and improve problem-solving and implementation of improvements. This individual will help drive improvements and increase our overall Quality position with our customers.

Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure strict adherence to and implementation of Company Safety and Work rules.
  • Perform inspection operations in each of the following areas: Final Inspection, Receiving QC Inspection, Pre/Post OSP Inspection, In-Process Inspection, First Article Inspection
  • Responsible for creation of nonconformance documentation (NCRs) when discrepancies are detected at any inspection stage.
  • Removal of the discrepant material from the production areas.
  • Maintain and support SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost) metrics in all areas assigned.
  • Ensure that all quality requirements are being followed including procedural compliance and defect reporting. Act as a liaison between production associates and quality requirements.
  • Maintaining all inspection data during daily inspections and responsible for ensuring all paperwork is in its proper place at the end of the shift.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other members of the Quality team to ensure that all areas flow efficiently. Aid in absenteeism coverage to ensure all production requirements are met.
  • Escalate production and assembly quality issues or work stoppages caused by a quality issue immediately.
  • Set up and adjust gauges using required equipment or masters per specification requirements. This includes periodic verifications of gage set-up.
  • Work with quality engineering in the design of new or modified gauging when required.
  • Ability to help the manufacturing area in troubleshooting and resolving gage issues.
Qualifications
  • This position requires the applicant to be a US Person with a US permanent residence. A US Person is a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of Inspection experience in a manufacturing environment demonstrating increasing accountability.
  • 2-3 years previous Aerospace DSQR experience a plus
  • Qualified experience, ASQ Certified CQT CMI a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of the AS9102 (FAI's) First Article Inspection process, and Quality Planning tools (including SPC, GR&R, Cpk, GD&T, DMAIC, First Piece Inspection, Cost of Quality)
  • Understanding and basic knowledge of all aviation industry compliance standards required, including ISO and AS 9000 quality systems, ISO 10012, AS9100, ISO9001, FAA FAR regulations
  • Strong application knowledge of calibration and metrology systems including the development, improving, and approving gauging methodologies and design. Qualifications should include general or application knowledge of; quality assurance systems, Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), blue print interpretation, and process capability analysis.
  • Effective communication skills - strong written and verbal communication skills. Including developing, implementing, and maintaining procedures, work instructions, and related forms that support the Quality system
  • Basic math aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of engineering part drawings and general understanding of metallurgy; ability to understand the physical and mechanical properties of metals as affected by composition, mechanical working and heat treatments including metal cutting and grinding is desirable.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management
  • Training and experience in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively throughout the shift.
