Job summary

Vantedge Medical in San Jose, CA is seeking a Quality Inspector II for a full-time, permanent onsite position. You will perform in-process and lot inspections, generate quality reports, and advise operators on deviations. This role requires strong measurement skills and blueprint reading.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of inspection experience in metal fabrication.
• Measuring tools: Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Test Indicator and calibration.
• Strong mathematical ability.
• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Familiar with quality management systems and calibration.
• General inspection knowledge, metrology, plating and painting.
• Computer literate.
• Read, write and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Prioritizes inspections based on workload and job priorities.
• Inspects receiving/incoming parts from suppliers, especially plating and custom parts.
• Inspects in-process (1st Piece) against print and work order using measuring tools.
• Advises operators on deviations and possible corrective actions.
• Performs Lot inspection before moving to next operation.
• Records inspection results into Shopfloor software linked to Visual Manufacturing.
• Maintains quality records per Quality Management System and customer requirements.
• Supports ISO 13485 and 9001 certifications as needed.

About this Opportunity:

This position is responsible for In-process inspection, Lot inspection, creating and compiling quality reports for the Vander-Bend Manufacturing Sheet Metal and Machining divisions. The Inspector 2 is able to advise operators why a deviation occurred and how to possibly correct the deviation. The Inspector 2 will train and advise the Trainee Inspector position.

Responsibilities

• Prioritizes which inspections to perform based upon workload and job priorities.
• Inspect product at receiving/incoming inspection from suppliers, specifically plating and custom made parts using applicable measuring tools and test equipment.
• Inspect product In-Process (1st Piece) supplied by the operator. Inspector checks the product against the print, work order (notes) and other pertinent documentation using applicable measuring tools and test equipment.
• Advises operator of what deviations are found, why the deviation occurred and how to possibly correct the deviations.
• Performs “Lot” inspection on product “ready to” move to the next operation.
• Checks the product against the print, work order (notes) and other pertinent documentation using applicable measuring tools and test equipment.
• Creates and compiles quality records as defined by the Quality Management System or as defined by Customer specific requirements.
• Records inspection results into the “Shopfloor” Software, linked to Visual Manufacturing system.
• Undertakes any additional responsibilities or activities as required by the Quality Manager SheetMetal.
• Assists the Director of Quality in maintaining of ISO 13485 and 9001 certifications.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5-year previous Inspection experience in a metal fabrication environment.
• Measuring tools: Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gage, Test Indicator and calibration.
• A good understanding of mathematics.
• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Familiar with quality management systems and calibration.
• General Inspection knowledge, methodology, metrology, plating and painting.
• Computer literate.
• Read, write and communicate in English.
