Job summary

Nordson Corporation is seeking a Quality Inspector to join our manufacturing team in a dynamic, safety-conscious environment. You will perform mechanical, functional, and electrical inspections, record results, and communicate findings to ensure product conformance with drawings and specifications.

You will review quality alerts, participate in corrective actions, and support containment activities. Working with supply chain, you will issue quality notifications and perform first article

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of quality inspection experience in manufacturing/assembly.
  • Certified Quality Inspector or Technician preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete and record steps of quality inspection/rework under guidance of Quality Engineer.
  • Review quality alerts, corrective actions and containment activities.
  • Ensure inspection/rework instructions are understood by production staff.
  • Identify root causes, permanent corrective actions and preventative measures.
  • Report nonconforming product and dispositions.
  • Conduct inspection of components—mechanical, functional, and electrical per drawings.
  • Document inspection results and generate quality notifications to suppliers.
  • Perform 1st article inspections of purchased parts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary of the role

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Complete and record all steps of the Quality Inspection/rework instructions under the guidance of the Quality Engineer for each part going through the Inspection Area.
  • Review quality alerts, corrective actions, and containment activities.
  • Ensure that instructions for inspection or rework is understood and followed by the production associates working in the area.
  • Serve as an active quality team contributor, assisting in identifying root cause(s), permanent corrective action, and preventative measures (mistake/error-proofing).
  • Report nonconforming product (i.e. Holding, Disposition, daily reporting).
  • The inspection activities include mechanical, functional, and or electrical inspections of the components received to the documented drawings verifying the critical parameters & other characteristics essential to meet IC's requirements.
  • Documenting inspection results.
  • Disposition of the inspected items; either accepted or rejected.
  • Generating quality notifications to suppliers for non-compliant items received.
  • Performing 1st article inspections of purchased parts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Education High School Diploma
  • 3 – 5 years of experience of Quality Inspection in a manufacturing/assembly company.
  • Certified Quality Inspector or Technician preferred.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to use a standard ERP system, SAP experience preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with competing priorities; ability to multi-task Self-starter.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English to comprehend and execute inspection plans.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Basic understanding GD&T tolerancing.
  • An effective communicator with good interpersonal skills.
  • Good manual dexterity for operating equipment and light assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, able to use measurement tools (calipers, comparator, gauge blocks, etc.).
  • Powdered Material Handling Vehicle license or previous certification a plus.

  • Office/Manufacturing environment.
