Job summary

Nordson Corporation seeks a Quality Engineer to provide technical quality support in a manufacturing environment, applying Six Sigma, SPC, and problem‑solving methods to improve product and process performance. The role focuses on defect reduction, supplier quality issues, and regulatory compliance.

You will lead quality improvement projects, analyze data, and support design and process validation activities while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure customer requirements are met

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field.
  • Minimum 2 years in quality, engineering, or manufacturing roles.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt, CQE, CQA, or Lead Auditor certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Quality System Regulations, ISO standards, and Nordson policies.
  • Apply quality engineering techniques to support new and existing products.
  • Identify critical components, specifications, and processes for monitoring and design changes.
  • Lead corrective and preventive actions to reduce defects across the organization.
  • Support product teams with lean and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Manage customer complaints and ensure proper documentation through closure.
  • Train Quality Assurance staff and manufacturing personnel on specs and measurement techniques.
  • Participate in internal and external Quality System audits.

Job description

The Quality Engineer provides technical quality support within a manufacturing and assembly environment to ensure products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. This role applies quality engineering tools, structured problem‑solving methods, and continuous improvement practices to support operational excellence, reduce defects, resolve quality issues, and improve overall product and process performance.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with Quality System Regulations, ISO standards, and standard operating procedures in alignment with Nordson policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Apply quality engineering techniques to support new and existing products.
  • Ensure products meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Process discrepant material transactions, including vendor returns and financial reconciliation of scrap material.
  • Partner with Nordson Supplier Quality Engineers to drive permanent corrective actions that resolve supplier quality issues.
  • Identify critical components, specifications, and processes that should be targeted for monitoring, fixturing, or design modifications.
  • Lead local containment activities and communicate containment risks to key stakeholders.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of quality programs, including tracking, analysis, reporting, and problem solving.
  • Lead corrective and preventive action projects to drive defect reduction across the organization.
  • Support evaluation and testing of customer and warranty return products.
  • Support product teams with the implementation of lean and cost‑saving initiatives.
  • Represent Quality in production process improvement efforts, quality planning, FMEA, and risk analysis activities.
  • Participate in IQ/OQ/PQ validation activities, including drafting, reviewing, and executing protocols.
  • Apply statistical tools such as process capability, measurement system analysis, and statistical process control to assess and improve production processes.
  • Manage customer complaints, including implementing problem‑solving actions to ensure product quality and maintaining required documentation through closure.
  • Support the QC department with proper documentation and disposition of nonconforming product.
  • Work cross‑functionally to ensure thorough corrective action problem‑solving and implementation.
  • Review product and process changes to ensure documentation and risk assessment actions are complete.
  • Train Quality Assurance Inspectors and manufacturing personnel on specifications, new products, procedures, and measurement techniques.
  • Lead or participate in internal and external Quality System audits.
  • Maintain effective working relationships, communication, and feedback with all departments.
  • Lead and develop Quality Engineering and technical staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and eight years of relevant technical experience. Minimum of two years of experience in a quality, engineering, or manufacturing role. Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt, CQE, CQA, or Lead Auditor certification preferred.

Preferred Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques as applied to assembly and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with product and process development.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles and practices.
  • Experience conducting root cause investigations.
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools.
  • Highly motivated self‑starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • AutoCAD or SolidWorks experience preferred.
  • Experience with blueprint reading, basic metrology, and GD&T preferred.
