Job summary

Johnson Service Group is seeking a Quality Inspector for a contract-to-hire position with a medical device manufacturer in San Jose, CA. The role covers in-process and lot inspections, and compiling quality reports for the Sheetmetal division.

The Inspector will record results in Kebrite Software linked to Visual Manufacturing, support ISO 13485/9001 compliance, and assist the Quality Director in maintaining certifications. Day shift, pay $28-$32 hourly depending on experience.

Qualifications

• 1 year of manufacturing fabrication or inspection experience minimum.
• Familiar with quality management systems and calibration.
• Able to read and interpret blueprints and prints.

Responsibilities

• Prioritizes inspections based on workload and priorities.
• Inspects product at receiving and in-process with measuring tools.
• Informs operator of deviations found during inspection.
• Performs lot inspections and records results in Kebrite/Visual Manufacturing.
• Creates and compiles quality records per QMS and customer requirements.
• Supports ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 certifications.

Job description

Johnson Service Group is seeking a Quality Inspector for a contract positing with a medical device manufacturer located in San Jose, CA. This position is responsible for in-process inspection, lot inspection and creating and compiling quality reports for their Sheetmetal division. This is a contract to hire position. Day Shift: Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. - 4:40 p.m. Payrate $28-$32 depending on experience

About this Opportunity

The Quality Inspector I is responsible for in-process inspection, lot inspection and creating and compiling quality reports for the Sheetmetal division.

Responsibilities

• Prioritizes which inspections to perform based upon workload and job priorities.
• Inspect product at receiving and incoming inspection from suppliers, specifically plating and custom-made parts using applicable measuring tools and test equipment.
• Inspect product In-Process (1st Piece) supplied by the operator.
• Inspector checks the product against the print, work order (notes) and other pertinent documentation using applicable measuring tools and test equipment.
• Advises operator of deviations found upon inspection.
• Performs “Lot” inspection on product “ready to” move to the next operation. Will check the product against the print, work order (notes) and other pertinent documentation using applicable measuring tools and test equipment.
• Create and compile quality records as defined by the Quality Management System and/or by Customer specific requirements.
• Record inspection results into the “Kebrite” Software, which is linked to Visual Manufacturing.
• Undertake additional responsibilities or activities as required by the Quality Manager Sheetmetal.
• Assist the Director of Quality in maintaining of ISO 13485:2003 and 9001:2008 certifications.

Requirements Qualifications

• 1 year of manufacturing fabrication or inspection experience minimum.
• Measuring tools: Caliper, Micrometer, etc.
• A good understanding of mathematics.
• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Familiar with quality management systems and calibration.
• General Inspection knowledge, methodology, metrology, plating and painting.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel and able to manipulate documents using Adobe Acrobat or Fox it.
• Read, write and communicate in English.
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in inspections.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is a plus.
• Experience working with ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 quality standards.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes for sheet metal fabrication

Physical Working Conditions

Some assigned tasks for this position may involve “Medium work” and some may involve “Heavy Work” as defined below. Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
