Job summary

Lehigh Heavy Forge Corporation in Green Bay, WI seeks a Quality Inspector to read complex drawings and welding symbols and perform First Article Inspections to ensure customer specifications.

Use precision tools (calipers, tape measure, protractors, gauges, ROMER arm); document results; create data for reports; and report discrepancies to shop supervision. Minimum: US citizenship; GED/high school or technical degree; 5+ years inspection experience and 1+ year in metal fabrication.

Job description

Functions and Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret complex project drawings and welding symbols
• Inspection tool usage: tape measure, caliper, pin gauges, protractor, thread gauges, radius gauges, height gauges, bore mics, ROMER arm
• Ability to work independently and train others
• Complete complex First Article Inspections (FAIs)
• Thorough knowledge of customers' requirements
• Thorough knowledge of GD&T
• Ability to answer questions from production floor
• Perform a variety of parts and product inspections to meet company and customer requirements
• Inspect incoming sub-out parts
• Document results of inspections
• Gather data and create reports for customers
• Communicate quality discrepancies to shop supervisors
• Validate material and process certifications, and inspection documentation
• Follow the Nonconforming Material process
• Use calibrated measuring equipment where applicable
• Follow all safety procedures
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is required
• Good verbal and written communication skills is required

Minimum Requirements for Education, Skillset, Qualifications, and Experience:

• Must be a US Citizen
• GED/High School Diploma/Technical Degree
• 1-3 Years manufacturing experience
• 5+ Years inspection experience - required
• 1+ Years in a metal fabrication environment - required

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Desire to acquire ASQ certification
