Job summary

PTA Plastics, an employee-owned leader in the plastic injection molding, contract manufacturing and tool-building industry, is seeking a Quality Inspector to join our dynamic team. You will monitor, measure and evaluate quality characteristics of molded parts and assemblies to ensure our customers’ quality standards are met.

This role requires basic knowledge of plastic injection molding, experience with cosmetic requirements of plastic parts, and hands-on use of inspection tools.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of Plastic Injection Molding.
  • Experience and knowledge of cosmetic requirements of plastic parts.
  • Mechanical inspection skills to include use of hand inspection equipment (Micrometers, Calipers, Height stands, etc.).
  • Ability to develop and use open set-up inspection techniques for plastic parts.
  • Working knowledge of Coordinate Measuring Machines
  • Good written and verbal skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer databases, spreadsheets and SPC software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for First Article Inspections and Revision verifications.
  • Help generate and Implement Quality plans.
  • Provide SPC support as needed to satisfy the requirements of our customers.
  • Verify the cosmetic quality of production parts, both in the Molding Department and the Finishing Department.
  • Verify the conformance of dimensional requirements of production parts, both in the Molding Department and the Finishing Department.
  • Provide Quality Assurance support during Qualified Start-up procedures.
  • Generate documentation and provide technical support for non-conformances.
  • Provide an Engineering liaison service for the Molding and Finishing Departments.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.

Job Summary:

As a Quality Inspector, you will be responsible for monitoring, measuring and evaluating quality characteristics of molded part and assemblies to ensure our customers’ quality standards are met. This is achieved through visual as well as measurement inspection using various inspection measurement equipment, gauges and calipers. The Quality Inspector is actively involved in a variety of activities that are essential to maintaining the quality of a product that is delivered to our customers.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the production floor for extended periods.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling small tools, machine components, and molds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection.
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching to access equipment and perform maintenance tasks.
  • Good vision and color perception for inspecting parts and identifying any defects or abnormalities.
  • Ability to work in temperature-controlled environments and withstand exposure to noise levels associated with manufacturing machinery.
  • Ability to receive, comprehend and utilize required training from OSHA and Company including but not limited to the following:
  • First Aid and CPR (optional)
