Job summary

GPR Company is seeking a Mechanical Quality Control Inspector to perform inspections of machined parts, generate and maintain documentation, and ensure compliance with the Quality Management System. The role requires proficiency with GD&T, CMMs, and hand tools, with occasional travel between two facilities.

Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years in mechanical QC, high school diploma or GED, and ASQ certification is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Mechanical Quality Control Inspector capacity.
  • ASQ certification is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections and generate inspection documentation per QMS.
  • Inspect machined parts using hand tools and CMM data.
  • Maintain inspection records per procedures and work instructions.
  • Travel occasionally between two GPR facilities for inspections.
  • Support M&TE calibration program as directed by supervisor.
  • Record time and process data in ERP system.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of GMP.
  • Maintain 5-S program initiatives.

Job description

Role and Responsibilities

Participate in Quality Control Inspection Department functions at either GPR location, as directed by the Director of Quality or his designee.

  • Perform inspections, generate and maintain inspection documentation as outlined in the GPR Company Quality Management System and procedures outlining the requirements of First Piece Inspection, Receiving Inspection, In-Process Inspection, First Article Inspections and Final Inspections.
  • Utilize any and all necessary hand measuring/inspection tools necessary to inspect machined parts at GPR.
  • Complete inspection reports based on CMM collected data and manual measurements.
  • Properly file inspection records of parts (as applicable) in accordance with GPR Company procedures and/or Work Instructions.
  • Occasional travel between two GPR facilities to inspect parts.
  • Participate and/or execute M&TE calibration program, as directed by the Director of Quality or his designee.
  • Keep accurate time and process records via ERP system.
  • Demonstrate practical knowledge of Good Machining Practices (GMP)
  • Be respectful and a team player with co-workers.
  • Maintain and provide support to all 5-S program initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance to workplace policies according to safety objectives and procedures.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • High school degree or equivalent GED
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • ASQ certification, and/or applicable knowledge desirable.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Mechanical Quality Control Inspector capacity
  • Solid knowledge, interpretation and experience with GD&T requirements
  • Competency in the use of various MTE (Calipers, Micrometers, Indicators, Comparators, CMM, etc.)
Preferred Skills
  • Working Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5-2009 standard and implementation
Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and basic trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form, and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
