Job summary

Badger Meter Inc. is seeking an Inspector responsible for ensuring incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products meet quality standards.

You will read blueprints, verify requirements, perform inspections, document results, and help drive process improvements across production and engineering teams. Responsibilities include performing tolerance checks, specialized tests, and coordinating actions for nonconforming parts.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints, work orders, engineering specifications, and routing sheets to verify production requirements.
  • Perform inspections of incoming materials, first articles, in-process components, purchased parts, and finished products.
  • Conduct testing and measurements to verify product dimensions, fit, appearance, and performance.
  • Perform specialized testing, including hardness and holiday testing.
  • Identify and troubleshoot print, drawing, and bill of materials discrepancies.
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records, including inspection reports, damage reports, return reports, and rework orders.
  • Coordinate the routing of nonconforming products for rework or corrective action.
  • Investigate quality concerns and assist in resolving production issues that impact product quality.
  • Communicate quality findings and deviations to production and plant leadership.
  • Recommend improvements to quality standards, inspection processes, and production methods.
  • Verify products are packaged and prepared appropriately to minimize damage during shipment.
  • Process purchased material damage reports when incorrect or damaged materials are received.

What You Will Contribute

As an Inspector, you'll play a key role in ensuring incoming materials, work‑in‑process components, and finished products meet our quality standards and customer expectations. Working closely with production and engineering teams, you'll help identify issues, improve processes, and ensure products leave our facility ready for success.

What You'll Do

  • Perform inspections of incoming materials, first articles, in-process components, purchased parts, and finished products.
  • Conduct testing and measurements to verify product dimensions, fit, appearance, and performance.

What You'll Bring

  • Previous manufacturing, quality inspection, or related experience preferred.
  • Entry‑level candidates with strong mechanical aptitude are encouraged to apply.

Working Conditions

Manufacturing environment. Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment. Depending on the assigned department, must be able to lift up to 60 pounds and complete an audiogram test.
