Job summary

Applied Aerospace & Defense, a premier aerospace manufacturer, seeks a Quality Inspector for the 2nd shift to inspect critical flight parts. You will read complex drawings, apply GD&T, and ensure documentation meets AS9100/NADCAP requirements throughout production.

Responsibilities include using CMM, FARO Arm, and other inspection tools, maintaining precise records, and collaborating with manufacturing teams to uphold quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Read and understand complex engineering drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Familiarity with GD&T concepts and regulatory requirements (AS9100, NADCAP).
  • Experience with inspection equipment (CMM, FARO Arm, Optical Comparator).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.

  • Perform inspection activities using precision inspection equipment at all production phases.
  • Apply GD&T and customer specifications to ensure compliance with AS9100 and NADCAP.

Description

The Quality Inspector is responsible for the inspection, documentation, and certification of critical components throughout the production process, including parts subject to flight safety requirements. This role ensures compliance with AS9100, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements through precise measurement and rigorous record‑keeping.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Performs various inspection activities utilizing precision inspection equipment at all phases of product manufacturing. Uses GD&T concepts, customer supplied specifications, and internal standards, to ensure compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, and other regulatory requirements.

Position Requirements
  • Read and understand complex engineering drawings to determine dimensions and tolerance specifications
  • Compare recorded measurements to blueprint dimensions and tolerances and notify specified persons of discrepancies using NCF and MRB process
  • Familiarity with the use of various inspection and measurement equipment, i.e. CMM, FARO Arm, Borescope, Optical Comparator, etc. preferred
  • Strong understanding of units of measure and applicability to GD&T principles
  • Must be self‑motivated and able to adjust to a dynamic work environment and tempo while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong professional ethics combined with the ability to function well on teams.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing or similarly regulated industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with performing various inspection activities to include, i.e., 1st piece, in-process, final inspections
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledgeable of MS Word, and Excel
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in the operation of CMM's preferred (Mitutoyo/Metris/Zeiss)
  • Familiarity with operation/programming of FARO arm preferred
