Primary Function:
Perform all types of inspection requirements and be responsible for inspection for a variety of items such as metal castings, following specific inspection instructions.
Tools and Equipment:
Measuring tools, calibration equipment and drawings, Computer SPC software.

Working Procedure:
The following are the usual major job duties, but this job description does not preclude the performance of other duties as assigned by the supervisor:
• Inspect a wide variety of castings using a variety of measuring tests and equipment to determine conformance to specifications or work instructions.
• Take direct responsibility and be held accountable for the quality of product that goes to customers.
• Receiving in parts from subcontractors and processing paperwork.
• This positions act as the customer representative for source inspection of castings
• Exercise independent judgment on a consistent basis, working under minimal supervision.
• Support engineering efforts in new product introduction as required.
• Assist the quality department in performing internal audits of various departments.
• Participate in the measurement systems analysis (MSA) program.
• Maintain all necessary records and reports for parts and products of Hitchiner, government and customer quality control requirements.
• Ensure all operations are completed and signed off on manufacturing route sheets.
• Retrieve all applicable specifications, instructions or folders necessary to perform job.
• Ensure that all tools are used within calibration cycle and are in good working condition.
• Work in a team environment, using excellent communication skills both within the team and cross-functionally. Must build and maintain positive relationships.
Special Skills and/or Experience:
Previous experience, in using measuring tools and calibration equipment required.
Must be able to read and interpret blue prints.
Vision requirement of 20/20 or better in at least one eye, per the J1 standard as well as color perception.
Must be able to read, understand and follow complex work instructions.
Must be able to learn basic metrology fundamentals (GD&T).
Candidate must have computer literacy .
Requires sufficient strength and physical dexterity to frequently lift up to 35 lbs.
A minimum experience of 2 year as Mechanical Inspector C or higher.
High School Diploma or GED
