Job summary

Quality Inspector in Skokie, IL, onsite, will support QA Lab responsibilities to ensure product quality in production. The role offers direct interaction with manufacturing teams, Value Stream leaders, and engineering functions.

Responsibilities include interpreting drawings, applying statistical methods to assess process capabilities, and recommending calibration and gauging needs while adhering to ISO 9001:2015 and AAR M-1003 standards.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years performing similar tasks/role preferred.

Quality Inspector

Overview

The Quality Inspector will provide coverage of QA Lab responsibilities in support of production. This position will have high visibility with manufacturing team members, Value Stream leaders, and engineering functions.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Work safely and without injury.
  • Interpret drawings and verify requirements applicable to production / PPAP parts, communicating results to the appropriate people in support of Midland Mfg. production.
  • Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing process capabilities.
  • Recommend and specify instrumentation, calibration, and gauging needs.
  • Confer with Midland personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status.
  • Understand and perform to all quality regulations, standards, and policies, including ISO 9001:2015 and AAR M-1003, following work procedures and ensuring the highest level of quality.
  • May participate in defining strategies to meet quality objectives and in system reviews within the team.
  • Participate in team meetings as required (safety, problem solving, etc.).
  • Problem‑solve individually or as part of a group as job duties require.
  • Perform housekeeping duties including 5S, coolant replacement, and TPM.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years performing similar tasks/role.
Desired Characteristics, Competence and Capabilities
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use calipers, plug & thread gauges, micrometers and other measurement devices.
  • General knowledge and experience with a CMM and/or CNC programming desired; ability to learn CMM programming is a must.
  • Willing to offer opinions and direction.
  • Results oriented.
  • Must convey technical information effectively to other group members.
  • Must be a team player and possess active listening skills, giving full attention to what others are saying, asking questions appropriately, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions
  • The employee is continuously standing, repetitively grasping and manipulating with the hands; may be required to walk, bend, squat, or twist, push or pull, lift 5‑10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally with assistance.
  • Job performed in a manufacturing environment; exposure to loud machinery, cold temperatures, hot temperatures, chemicals and vapors; may occasionally work in an office environment.
  • Use of bench‑type or floor‑mounted machines (e.g., drill presses, grinders, broaches, screw machines, manual and CNC mills and lathes, saws, shrink‑wrap machines, etc.), hand and power tools, measuring instruments, hoist, lifts, and lift trucks.
Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour.
