Job summary

TURCK in Plymouth, MN is seeking a Quality Inspector to join our manufacturing QA team and ensure product conformance through visual, dimensional, functional, and electrical inspections. You will document results, manage nonconforming materials, and support efficient material flow across departments.

In this role you will partner with Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and Warehouse staff to uphold quality standards and meet customer delivery commitments while leveraging precision measurement

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years' experience performing mechanical and electrical inspections.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and inspection standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual, dimensional, functional, and electrical inspections on mechanical/electronic components, raw materials, and subassemblies.
  • Document inspection results and maintain QA records.

What You Will Do

As a Quality Inspector at TURCK, you will perform inspection, testing, and verification activities for incoming raw materials, manufactured components, production assemblies, and customer-supplied products. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with quality standards through visual, dimensional, functional, and electrical inspections. You will accurately document inspection results, maintain quality records, process nonconforming materials, and enter data into the Quality Assurance database while supporting efficient material flow throughout the organization.

Perform standardized visual, dimensional, functional, and electrical inspections on mechanical and electronic components, raw materials, and subassemblies. Utilize Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) sampling plans, precision measuring instruments, electrical test equipment, and vision systems to verify product conformity.

Execute First Article and Lot Inspection processes, including:

  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) to verify that raw materials and components meet engineering drawings, product specifications, and applicable industry standards.
  • Perform Goods Receipt Inspections, including verification of packaging integrity and supplier shipping documentation.
  • Review and verify that vendor documentation and manufacturing drawings align with approved records in the TURCK Engineering Database.
  • Set up and operate inspection fixtures, testing equipment, and measurement systems as required.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments and test equipment to inspect products and document results.
  • Develop and maintain detailed Quality Assurance Inspection Plans in accordance with controlled documentation and quality procedures.

Identify and process nonconforming materials and subassemblies by routing them through the Material Review process. Accurately enter inspection results and quality data into the Quality Assurance database within established timelines.

Maintain quality records, electronic files, inspection documentation, and quality procedures in accordance with company requirements.

Collaborate closely with Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and Warehouse/Stockroom personnel to support quality objectives and resolve product-related issues.

Partner with cross-functional teams to address material quality concerns and ensure customer delivery commitments are not compromised.

  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What You Will Bring

Required:

  • High school diploma, vocational school certification, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing mechanical and electrical inspections in a manufacturing or quality assurance environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and inspection standards.
  • Proficiency in basic mathematics and the use of precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail and concentration while conducting inspections, analyzing data, and performing quality documentation activities.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of AQL sampling methodologies and quality inspection techniques.
  • Experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) preferred.
  • Experience with electronic and mechanical testing equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
