Job description

Overview

The Quality Inspector performs various receiving inspections, in-process inspections, verification of completed paperwork, identification of non-conformance issues, final product inspection, and dimensional checks of production detail parts and assemblies. This includes using hand tools such as calipers, scales, micrometers, and height gauges, as well as operating CMMs. Basic knowledge of AS9102 and First Article Inspection skills is required. Inspectors should be proficient in blueprint reading and specification interpretation, applying these skills to perform first article inspections using in-house programs such as DISCUS and Net Inspect. The Inspector should be able to identify drawing revision changes and purchase order requirements. A basic understanding of AS9100 guidelines, including their maintenance and implementation, is also necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Follow all established quality management system procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure procedures and work instructions are followed, resolving quality issues with internal or external customers.
  • Perform receiving, in-process, kitting, and final inspections as required.
  • Conduct first-piece inspections for mechanical assemblies, part marking, and kitting.
  • Generate reports, verify data, track information, and recommend process improvements.
  • Verify incoming products meet purchase order and customer requirements.
  • Ensure assemblies meet all customer specifications.
  • Confirm calibration of instruments used for product acceptance prior to use.
  • Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances following established procedures.
  • Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports.
  • Create AS9102 certification packages for FAIRs when required.
  • Assist in following procedures in accordance with AS9100 standards.
  • Create detailed inspection plans using designated software.
  • Become a certified customer Source Delegation Representative, follow customer protocols, and access customer portals.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years experience in inspection or aerospace manufacturing.
  • Ability to interpret customer specifications and requirements.
  • Knowledge of national standards such as MIL, AS, IPC, NAS, etc.
  • Proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerances and blueprint reading.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, and AS9102 standards.
  • Certification in bonding, sealant application, and torque requirements.
  • Familiarity with FAI’s, DIP’s, and Net Inspect software.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Previous experience with CMM programming and PC-DMIS software is a plus.
  • Ability to perform dimensional inspections using manual inspection gauges such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and comparators.
  • Education and Experience:

    High school diploma or equivalent; at least 5 years of relevant work experience.

    Physical Requirements:

    Must be able to stoop, crouch, reach, walk, lift, grasp, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions. Capable of lifting up to 30 lbs. Must have close visual acuity as per procedures. May be exposed to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, and dust.
