BRT Extrusions, located in Niles, OH, is seeking a Quality Inspector to join our Quality Department on a midnight shift (12:00 AM – 8:00 AM). This role supports the ISO 9001 program and ensures material quality at extrusion presses with accurate documentation and timely communication.

You will sample materials, document nonconformances, conduct random inspections, assist audits, and help digitalize inspection records.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Able to read and understand basic instructions in English.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Basic computer knowledge and average math skills.
• Willing to participate in required trainings and safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Check material with company tools to ensure quality per customer requirements.
• Place hold tags on non-conforming material and communicate with drivers/department leads.
• Document nonconformances and report to appropriate staff.
• Collect samples at extrusion presses and place them for inspection.
• Conduct random inspections and support ISO 9001 internal audits.
• Assist with corrective actions and data collection for root cause analyses.
• Help digitalize inspection records to comply with document control.
• Read die prints, packing specs, tolerances and related specs.
• Maintain attendance, contribute to training documentation, and work weekends as needed.

Come, Learn, Grow!Essential duties of the Quality Inspector:• Check material with company issued tools to ensure the quality of material is within customer requirements.• Place hold tags on non-conforming material when needed and communicate with drivers/department leads to transfer material to the non-conforming area.• Document nonconformances that are identified and communicate this information to appropriate staff.• Collect BRT samples and customer samples at extrusion presses and place them in the designated area for inspection.• Communicate closely with the Department Managers/Supervisors/Leads.• Help consult employees by communicating customer requirements and company procedures.• Random inspections of company issued tools throughout the plant (Report or isolate defective tools)• Help follow up on Corrective Actions and observe processes to gather data for root cause analyses.• Conduct random spot audits as assigned.• Participate in ISO 9001 Internal Audits and help support External Audits.• Help review and support the accuracy of department instructions and procedures.• Help support the digitalization of inspection records to stay in compliance with the company’s document control system.• Review completed inspection records to ensure compliance with department instructions.• Random inspections with certified gage blocks throughout departments.• Help deliver and track quality training documentation.• Perform inspections on in process, returned and OSP material.Must maintain good attendance and commit to/work your schedule.Must be 18 years of age to work in the plant.Must be able to work weekends as needed.Must have ability to read and understand basic instructions in English.Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing.Must have basic computer knowledge and average math skills as this position will use computers and measurement tools.Will need to know or learn how to read a Caliper, Square, Tape Measure, Webster, Impressor, etc.Will need to know or learn how to read Die Prints, Saw Stacking Specs, Packing Specs, and measurement tolerances.Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and report any unsafe work conditions to the EHS manager.Must be willing to participate in all required job and or employment related trainings. This includes but is not limited to all safety and technical or role or tool specific trainings.
