Job summary

A leading composite manufacturing company in Miamisburg, Ohio is seeking a Quality Inspector to perform inspections, assist in monitoring standards, and control non-conforming materials. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience in a machining, injection molding, or composite environment, and strong computer skills are required. Familiarity with statistical process control and measuring devices is preferred, along with a willingness to work overtime when needed. The work environment includes exposure to various manufacturing hazards.

Qualifications

Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform incoming receiving inspection using packing list, print characteristics, and certificate of conformance to verify that the correct products meet conforming standards.
  • Perform in-process inspections using inspection reports and manufacturing planning, and enter data when applicable.
  • Perform final product inspection and testing using inspection reports and manufacturing planning, and enter data when applicable.
  • Basic blueprint reading skills to measure parts with basic gauges and metrology hand tools.
  • Statistical process control (SPC), collecting various data and entering data electronically for analysis.
  • Assist the management team in monitoring standard practices, training, safety, and housekeeping standards by conducting random audits in all areas.
  • Assist in the control and processing of non-conforming material in all areas of receiving and production.
  • Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
  • One plus years as a Quality Inspector in a machining, injection molding, or composite environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with computers using Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, is required. Epicor is a plus.
  • Ability to work overtime during the week and weekends based on manufacturing deadlines and priorities.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, reading blueprints, and using basic measuring devices (tape measure, calipers, height gages, and electrical meters).
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing planning, quality assurance procedures, and standards to apply to manufacturing consistency.
  • Experience with CREAFORM 3D scanning inspection equipment is a plus.

Employees may spend a minimum of three to four hours per day at a PC doing design. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and needs to have knowledge on using assist devices to lift much larger items.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, UV exposure, fumes, sparks and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Duties may require the occasional use of/contact with/exposure to various hazardous materials (such as, but not limited to grease, oils, lubricants, paint, thinner, parts cleaner, chemicals, etc.). Employees should have basic awareness of hazardous materials cautions. Those directly using the materials must have specific knowledge of material in use and utilize appropriate safety precautions.
