Job summary

Pacer Group in Irvine, CA is seeking a Quality Inspector II to perform semi-complex inspection duties with limited guidance. You will interpret blueprints, apply GD&T, conduct FAI per AS9102, and use CMM and handheld measuring tools to determine part acceptance or rejection.

The role emphasizes calibration, documenting results, reviewing supplier certifications, and maintaining a safe, FOD-free workspace. This 2nd shift position requires safety shoes on day one and may lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) per AS9102.
• Strong mechanical inspection and GD&T knowledge.
• Ability to read blueprints and supplier certifications.
• Experience with CMM and inspection documentation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate acceptance and rejection records and certification systems.
• Inspect parts and tools to determine acceptance or rejection, and prepare required documentation.
• Perform semi-complex inspections on machined parts using measuring instruments and adapt setups for samples, forgings, and castings.
• Interpret specifications and blueprints to assess acceptability using math for tolerance conversions.
• Calibrate measuring equipment and document calibration intervals.
• Perform nondestructive testing and ensure a safe, FOD-free work area.
• Investigate customer return failures and assist source inspectors as needed.
• Document and evaluate inspection results per procedures.
• Review supplier certifications and related documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with team members to maintain a collaborative inspection environment.

Pay Rate: $28–$32/hour, depending on experience

Schedule: 2nd Shift | 1:30 PM–10:00 PM

Deadline: 9/25/2026

Safety Requirement: Safety shoes are required on the first day. Shoes may be composite or steel toe, but must meet safety shoe requirements.

Position Overview

With limited guidance in a team environment, the Quality Inspector II will be responsible for performing various semi-complex inspection requirements. The role requires strong mechanical inspection knowledge, blueprint interpretation, GD&T understanding, and the ability to use various measuring and test equipment to determine product acceptance or rejection.

• Maintain accurate acceptance and rejection records and certification systems as required by specifications.
• Inspect parts, tools, or instruments to determine acceptance or rejection, identify defects, and prepare required documentation.
• Perform semi-complex inspections on machined parts using various measuring instruments and adapt inspection setups for sample parts, forgings, and castings.
• Interpret specifications, blueprints, and technical documents to assess acceptability, using mathematics for dimension and tolerance conversions.
• Conduct calibration on semi-complex measuring and test equipment, establish appropriate conditions, and document calibration intervals.
• Perform nondestructive testing, including daily equipment checks and equipment setup, while ensuring compliance with safety rules and maintaining a FOD-free work area.
• Investigate customer return failures and assist source inspectors as necessary.
• Document and evaluate inspection results according to approved procedures.
• Review supplier certifications, including material certifications, special process certifications, test reports, and other applicable documentation.
• Work effectively with team members and contribute to a collaborative inspection environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) in accordance with AS9102, preferably within the aerospace industry.
• Experience with mechanical inspection and strong knowledge of GD&T.
• Experience reviewing supplier certifications, including material certifications, special process certifications, test reports, and related documentation.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, customer specifications, internal drawings, and procedures.
• Working knowledge of shop mathematics, including trigonometry.
• Must demonstrate effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.
• Personal hand tools may be required.
• May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
• Background in dimensioning and tolerancing in accordance with ANSI Y14.5.
• Experience with nondestructive testing and related inspection equipment.
• Aerospace manufacturing or inspection experience.
• Safety-sensitive position subject to random drug testing.
• Must maintain a FOD-free work area and follow all applicable safety procedures.
• Safety shoes are required on the first day and may be composite or steel toe.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and perform inspection activities in a manufacturing environment.
• May be required to lift and handle materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
• Personal hand tools may be required.
