Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking a Quality Inspector in Hamden, CT for a direct-hire, first-shift role. The candidate will inspect PCBs and assemblies, using AOI and precision tools, and ensure IPC/J-STD compliance. 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday.

Salary ranges and benefits discussed during interview. Qualifications include at least 4 years in quality inspection, experience with SMT, AOI, and IPC standards, plus strong attention to detail and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 4 years of experience in quality inspection or electronics QA.
• Experience with IPC/J-STD standards and SMT inspection.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs and work instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough visual and instrumental inspections of assemblies, PCBs, box builds and cables to ensure acceptability per criteria.
• Perform first piece and final inspections per customer and IPC requirements; record inspection status.
• Identify components on PCB using silkscreen markings and review design documentation.
• Read and interpret drawings, BOMs and work instructions; document inspection results and nonconformances.
• Assist in training new team members and recommend process improvements.
• Set up and operate AOI machines and use measurement equipment (microscopes, calipers, gauges).
• Ensure quality and productivity expectations are met; work in fast-paced environment.

Are you looking for your next employment opportunity as a Quality Inspector with a company that has been in business for over 20 years? Our client in Hamden, CT, is looking to add an experienced Quality Inspector to their team. Qualified candidates will have experience with IPC and J-STD standards, AOI inspection methods, SMT, and inspecting circuit boards.

This is a direct-hire opportunity with an immediate start available. It is a First Shift position from 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, and pays between $25–$40/hr depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct through visual and instrumental inspections of complex assemblies, printed circuit board assemblies, printed circuit boards, complete box builds, cables, etc. to determine and ensure acceptability for use based on identified criteria.
• Knowledge of SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and through-hole assembly methods.
• Perform first piece and final inspections according to customer & IPC requirements. Verify against the drawings to determine compliance and record inspection status on QC inspection reports.
• Proficiency in identifying components on an assembled Printed Circuit Board (PCB) relying on silkscreen markings, reviewingdesign documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, Bill of Materials, and work instructions.
• Accurately document inspection results, and nonconformances.
• Assist in training new team members in inspection techniques, procedures, and quality standards, and recommend process improvements to management.
• Proficient at setting-up and operating AOI machines.
• Proficiency in using various inspection and measurement equipment such as microscopes, calipers, gauges, etc.
• Accountable for quality, quantity and inspection of work performed.
• Candidates should demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Possible cross training in different departments as needed.
