Job summary

Commercial Metals in Denton, TX is seeking a Quality Inspector to perform final inspections of outgoing products and ensure adherence to dimensional and welding specifications.

This role requires expertise in measurement tools, reading drawings, and strong attention to detail across multiple production stages, with the ability to work outdoors and lift or climb as needed. High school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to accurately use a tape measure and work confidently with fractions of an inch.
• Strong understanding of linear measurements (feet/inches, decimals in imperial and metric units).
• Strong computer skills: Outlook, Excel, Word; SAP and Salesforce are a plus.
• Solid math, analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to work independently and meet inspection deadlines.
• High attention to detail, especially during repetitive inspections.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
• Ability to pass a near vision eye exam.

Responsibilities

• Perform final inspections on outgoing products, including dimensional checks and weld quality.

• Verify galvanizing thickness using gauges.
• Conduct in-process and final audits of products and processes.
• Interpret drawings to confirm dimensional, welding, and quality requirements.
• Convert between fractions and decimals, and metric/imperial units.
• Audit and verify product identification and traceability.
• Maintain inspection records and electronic files.
• Support QMS documentation updates and improvements.
• Manage gage calibration for accuracy and compliance.

What You'll Do

• Perform final inspections on all outgoing products, including dimensional checks, weld quality, and galvanizing verification
• Accurately measure parts using tape measures, micrometers, and calipers
• Verify galvanizing thickness using coating thickness gauges
• Conduct in process and final audits of products and manufacturing processes at multiple stages of production
• Interpret mechanical drawings and specifications to confirm dimensional, welding, and quality requirements
• Convert between fractions and decimals, as well as metric and imperial (U.S. standard) measurements
• Audit and verify product identification and traceability throughout production
• Maintain accurate inspection, audit, and training records, including scanning and organizing electronic files
• Support ongoing Quality Management System (QMS) documentation updates and improvements
• Manage and track gage calibration to ensure measurement accuracy and compliance

What You'll Need

• Proven ability to accurately use a tape measure and work confidently with fractions of an inch
• A strong understanding of linear measurements (feet/inches, decimals in both imperial and metric units)
• Strong computer skills, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and electronic file management; SAP and Salesforce experience is a plus
• Solid math, analytical, and problem solving skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet inspection deadlines
• High level of attention to detail, especially during repetitive or detailed inspections
• Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, or dry)
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when required
• Ability to pass a near vision eye exam (with or without corrective lenses), including reading Jaeger #2 or smaller at 12 inches (or equivalent)

• High School Diploma or GED required
