Job Summary:
Conducts routine inspection of materials and machined components as required and determines conformance to specification.
Title: Quality Inspector
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Follow company policies and procedures related to the Quality System.
- Assist Quality Engineers, Quality Manager, or Department Managers in conducting first piece, in-process, and final inspections to ensure conformance to specifications, Quality Plans, or other customer requirements.
- Use blueprints, Quality Plans, sampling, and inspection procedures for automotive and non-automotive products. Participate in special product and process studies as directed.
- Utilize standard industry inspection equipment such as Micrometers, Comparators, Calipers, and other handheld gages to conduct inspections.
- Accurately prepare inspection reports to document results and non-conformances, reporting findings timely.
- Prepare internal non-conformance reports and segregate non-conforming products per company procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform other responsibilities as required by management.
- Participate in customer visits, audits, product design reviews, and resolution of customer complaints.
- Assist in product and process studies as needed.
- Engage in continuous improvement activities.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in using standard inspection equipment and automated devices like CMMs, Vision Systems, including programming skills desirable.
- Understanding of blueprint interpretation, GD&T, and ability to assist others in inspection techniques.
- Knowledge of statistical process control to monitor processes.
- Experience conducting complex first article inspections.
Education and Experience:
- Associates degree preferred; minimum GED or High School Diploma.
- 2-3 years inspection experience, preferably in metal stamping, injection molding, or related industries.
- Certification as a Mechanical Inspector is desired.
- Ongoing training through courses and seminars is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
- Access and navigate all areas of the facility.
