Job description

Join to apply for the Quality Improvement Specialist role at State of Missouri.

This position is based at the St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center – South, located at 5300 Arsenal St., St. Louis, MO 63139. It focuses on regulatory compliance for children’s and adult psychiatric hospitals. The children’s hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission and CMS, while the adult hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission with one certified unit. The role reports to the Quality Management department and involves liaising with leadership and multidisciplinary teams to monitor, implement, and improve healthcare compliance.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Providing information on Joint Commission hospital and behavioral health manuals, and CMS A tags to the organization.
  2. Organizing monthly mock surveys across three campuses.
  3. Collaborating with leaders on action plans from mock surveys, tracers, or actual surveys.
  4. Conducting monthly facility education sessions on compliance with Joint Commission and CMS A tags.
  5. Performing weekly unit walks across all three campuses.
  6. Collecting data post-Joint Commission or CMS surveys.
  7. Reporting monthly compliance updates to facility leadership.
  8. Serving as an expert on hospital and behavioral health TJC chapters and CMS hospital tags.
  9. Participating in the Provision of Care and Patient Rights committees for both facilities.
  10. Conducting annual policy reviews.
  11. Providing bi-annual compliance matrices to leadership.
  12. Creating training materials related to standards.
  13. Attending TJC and CMS training sessions and reporting findings to QM and leadership.
  14. Monitoring practice adherence to policies.
  15. Participating in Infection Control rounds.
  16. Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, public health, environmental health, occupational safety, healthcare, or related fields.
  • At least two years of experience in workplace safety, environmental science, regulatory compliance, healthcare life safety, or healthcare environment of care.
  • Two years of experience in healthcare administration or policy interpretation.
