Job summary

Open Gates Group is seeking a hands-on Quality Food Safety Technician to join our team near Kalona, Iowa. This role reports to the Quality Manager and collaborates with Production to uphold quality standards across the supply chain.

The technician will conduct tests, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, participate in audits, and drive continuous quality improvements within a family of food companies.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years QA/QC experience in a dairy/food lab or equivalent.
• HS diploma or equivalent required; higher degree preferred.
• Detail-oriented with strong data entry and reporting skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication; team oriented.
• Ability to manage projects independently and adapt to change.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and facilitate quality standards with OG Production teams.
• Inspect compliance with Company, Federal, and State regulations.
• Assist with quality initiatives and audits.
• Manage paperwork for quality audits and inspections.
• Obtain PCQI, HACCP, and Internal Audit certifications within requested timelines.
• Maintain Open Gates Safe Quality Food (SQF) program.
• Train plant staff on quality procedures and safety.
• Troubleshoot quality issues with Production and Quality teams.
