Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. is seeking a Quality Engineering Technician for its Haydon Kerk Pittman team in Milford, NH.

The role focuses on investigating quality issues across suppliers, production, and design, acting as the customer advocate when problems arise, and supporting corrective actions. The ideal candidate holds an associate degree or equivalent, 3–5 years of related experience, and skilled in blueprint reading, AS9100/ISO9000 standards, and Lean Six Sigma tools.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent technical degree (required).
  • 3-5 years related experience; or combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly within the organization.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding blueprints and material specifications.
  • Knowledge of AS9100/ISO9000 standards (required).
  • Broad knowledge in materials and material evaluation (required).
  • Lean and Six Sigma tools – DMAIC, PPAP, DFMEA, DOE, SPC, GR&R, CPk (required).
  • Competency using mechanical instruments (e.g. calipers, indicators).
  • Ability to use AI tools to improve productivity and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to day-to-day quality issues on production lines.
  • Resolve production problems related to process errors and non-conforming parts.
  • Interface with Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Product/Sustaining Engineering.
  • Monitor self-release and first article inspections as required.
  • Review manufacturing instructions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Lead internal/external supplier audits and corrective actions.
  • Intervene to ensure customer satisfaction with quality issues.
  • Assist with inspection procedures and data analysis; suggest improvements.
  • Conduct lab evaluations; prepare reports and recommendations.
  • Utilize MRP/ERP software for data collection and incident resolution.
  • Support RMA processes including root cause analysis and corrective actions.

We are looking to add a driven Quality Engineering Technician to our team. This role is responsible for assisting in and directing the investigation and resolution of quality-related supplier, production, manufacturing, and design-related problems, and acts as the customer’s advocate when customers have detected quality problems.

What will you do?

  • Responding to day-to-day design, production, and customer quality issues related to production lines
  • Resolving production problems associated with process errors, non-conforming parts, and design problems
  • Interfacing with all aspects of Purchasing, Manufacturing Engineering, Product and Sustaining Engineering, and Production Inventory Control in the performance of their assigned tasks
  • Monitoring self-release of products and first article inspections as required
  • Reviewing manufacturing instructions for completeness, correctness, and comprehension by assembly personnel. Auditing processes performed by assembly personnel relative to methods, tools, and ability to follow manufacturing instructions.
  • Assuming responsibility for the internal and external supplier audits and corrective action system including compliance verifications, documentation, and follow-up
  • Intervening on behalf of the customer to ensure their ultimate satisfaction with quality issues
  • Assisting with the application and monitoring of established inspection procedures and methods. Compiling, tabulating, and summarizing data for analysis and preparing and offering constructive input relative to variables and deviations from prescribed standards of quality.
  • Conducting laboratory evaluations and analyses, preparing reports, and making recommendations.
  • Utilizing MRP/ERP software for data collection and incident resolution.
  • Reviewing, supporting, and completing RMA’s, including root cause analysis, developing corrective action, and turnaround in an efficient and timely manner

You are a great fit if you have the following:

  • Associate degree or equivalent technical degree (required)
  • 3-5 years related experience; or combination of education and experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts, problems, and ideas to various levels within the organization
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding various technical documents such as blueprints, material specification sheets, etc.
  • Knowledge of AS9100, ISO9000standards (required)
  • Broad knowledge in materials and material evaluation (required)
  • Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools – DMAIC problem solving, PPAP, DFMEA, DOE, SPC, GR&R, CPk, etc.
  • Competency using simple and complex mechanical instruments (e.g. drop gage, force gauge, calipers, and indicators) (required)
  • Working knowledge of common industry specifications, standards, and handbooks
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.

  • Must be able to work independently and within a team environment
  • This position is located within a manufacturing facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.The noise level within the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This position requires the ability to lift 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, and up to 10 lbs. constantly.
  • This position requires good manual dexterity and visual acuity
