Job summary

IsoTalent seeks a hands-on Quality Engineering Manager to lead site-level quality functions at its manufacturing facility in San Diego. You will balance ISO/AS9100 compliance with practical, no-nonsense process improvement and directly supervise a quality team on the production floor.

You will drive defect reduction, yield improvement, and audit readiness while partnering with Production, Engineering, and Corporate Quality to resolve issues affecting customers.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in quality assurance/quality engineering in manufacturing.
• 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline.
• Experience on production floor investigating defects and root causes.
• Proven track record improving yield, reducing scrap and rework.
• Fluency in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead site-level Quality Engineering activities focused on manufacturing improvement, defect reduction, and customer risk reduction.
• Investigate defects directly on the production floor and validate corrective action effectiveness.
• Partner with Production, Engineering, Test Engineering, Reliability, and Corporate Quality to resolve issues impacting yield, delivery, and customer satisfaction.
• Lead structured problem-solving (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa, PDCA, Pareto) with a focus on sustainable results.
• Drive measurable improvement in yield, scrap/rework reduction, MRB aging, and audit readiness.
• Manage Quality Engineers and develop practical process controls (SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, Cp/Cpk).
• Own high-priority quality investigations and MRB disposition for nonconforming material.
• Oversee Failure Analysis, Reliability/Hi-Rel activities, and qualification reporting (including AS9102 FAIRs).
• Lead customer visits and audits, and ensure timely, technically sound responses to RMAs and corrective actions.
• Support Supplier Quality activities, including supplier evaluation and corrective actions.
• Manage the Quality Management System (ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 14001) and align documentation with shop-floor practice.
• Oversee document control, metrology, and calibration functions.
• Coach and develop Quality team members into strong problem solvers.

A Day in the Life of the Quality Engineering Manager

This role holds full accountability for Customer Quality, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality Engineering, Failure Analysis, Reliability, Quality Management Systems, document control, calibration, and metrology at the facility. You'll spend real time on the production floor, partnering with Production, Engineering, and Corporate Quality to improve yield, reduce scrap and rework, and stop recurring defects at the root. This is a role for someone who wants to build practical, sustainable quality controls, not add red tape.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline
• Experience working on a production floor investigating defects and validating root causes
• Prior experience driving measurable improvements in yield, scrap, rework, or defect rates
• Strong experience identifying gaps between documented procedures and actual production practices
• Leading structured problem-solving with a focus on sustainable results
• Driving measurable improvement in yield, scrap/rework reduction, MRB aging, and audit readiness
• Managing Quality Engineering and developing practical process controls (SpC, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, Cp/Cpk)
• Overseeing Failure Analysis, Reliability/Hi-Rel activities, and qualification reports (including AS9102 FAIRs)
• Leading customer visits and audits, and ensuring timely, technically sounds repossess to RMAs and corrective actions
• Language fluency in both Spanish and English
