Job summary

Blendtec in Utah is seeking a motivated student for a Quality Assurance internship focused on component and finished-goods inspections and documentation.

You will read engineering drawings (GD&T), perform basic measurements, participate in root-cause analysis, and support ongoing quality improvements across manufacturing teams. This role offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Quality Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in manufacturing, product quality, and hands-on work.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply them to inspection and disposition decisions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard software tools.
  • Familiarity with quality tools (e.g., 5 Whys, FMEA, SPC) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of components and finished goods.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, prints, and technical specifications (including GD&T).
  • Conduct visual, dimensional, and functional inspections using appropriate measurement tools.
  • Validate incoming materials and reworked product.
  • Accurately document inspection results, maintain records, and prepare reports.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions (e.g., 5 Whys).
  • Participate in failure analysis and product teardowns (motors, assemblies, electronics).
  • Collect and analyze quality data to identify trends and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Conduct finished product audits and report non-conformities.
  • Support supplier quality by communicating issues and assisting with vendor follow-up.
  • Help maintain BOMs, work instructions, inspection criteria, and quality documentation.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams on process and quality improvements.
  • Provide basic measurement and cosmetic inspection training to production personnel.
  • Participate in training on quality systems, tools, and industry standards
