Qualifications

• Enrollment in a BS program in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or related technical field.
• Completion of at least sophomore year of study by the summer of 2027.

Responsibilities

• Complete monthly safety inspections and safety observations for the Metallurgical Department.
• Work safely and ensure plant safety policies are followed.
• Manage workflow in the mechanical and chemical test lab.
• Manage test equipment calibrations.
• Create new operating efficiencies to maintain production, testing, and shipping of steel with a leaner workforce.
• Maintain Steelmaking spectrometer lab, calibration, and on-call support.
• Conduct data-mining investigations with metallurgical grade performance, chemistry, scrap charges, etc.
• Oversee Metallurgical grade maintenance and development.
• Manage 3rd party testing inspections.
• Maintain tracking of Steelmaking scrap, referral, and diversions.
• Responsible for Metallurgical investigations.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry or related technical degree
