Tuopu USA is seeking a Quality Engineer to own day-to-day IQC oversight and lead SQE activities with suppliers. You will organize supplier on-site audits, approve PPAPs, and drive root cause analysis with corrective actions.
You will confirm quality losses, prepare supplier claims, and track supplier scorecards and monthly PPM statistics. The role requires 3+ years in automotive quality, proficiency in IATF 16949 practices, and willingness to travel to supplier sites for audits and on-site
QE/SQE = Quality Engineering + Supplier Quality. The role covers PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC, Product/Process Audit, RCCA, Engineering Change, Quality Data/Pareto, Detection Controls, Supplier Audit, Supplier PPAP, Supplier PPM, SCAR, Supplier RCCA, Supplier Improvement, Customer Complaint, 8D, and Return Analysis. Process Engineering remains a separate function.
Job Responsibilities
1. Be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of Incoming Quality Control (IQC) and handling of incoming material quality issues, ensuring incoming inspections meet specified requirements.
2. Be responsible for Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) work: organizing supplier on-site audits, approving supplier PPAP submissions, and leading root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action verification for supplier issues.
3. Be responsible for confirming product quality losses and additional costs (freight, sorting, rework, customer claims, etc.) caused by supplier quality issues, and submitting claims to suppliers.
4. Be responsible for monthly supplier delivery PPM statistics and supplier quality scorecards, feeding results back to suppliers and the purchasing department, and tracking improvement.
5. Be responsible for the identification and approval of inspection tools, molds, and tooling, their periodic calibration, and the preparation and implementation of MSA plans.
6. Be responsible for the implementation and approval of internal PPAP for mass-production projects, and leading the preparation and execution of internal product/process audit plans.
7. Be responsible for verifying non-conforming products and confirming rework/repair plans, leading internal quality improvement, and maintaining the product defect history record.
8. Be responsible for handling customer complaints and returns: collecting information, analyzing root causes, coordinating cross-functional corrective/preventive actions, tracking implementation, and responding to customers with 8D reports.
9. Be responsible for arranging verification of product engineering changes and the identification/approval of corresponding tooling, molds, and inspection tools.
10. Participate in the daily rapid-response meeting and the Monthly Priority Reduction Meeting; complete other tasks assigned by superiors.
Job Requirements
1. Educational and professional requirements: College degree or above in mechanical, materials, or science/engineering fields.
2. Work experience: At least 3 years of experience as a Quality Engineer in the automotive industry, including at least 1-2 years of Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) experience, with hands-on experience in supplier on-site audits and supplier quality management.
3. Knowledge and skill requirements: IATF 16949 internal audit qualification preferred; proficient in the five core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA) and the seven QC tools; proficient in 8D and the customer issue-handling process; familiar with Supplier Quality Management (SQM) processes.
4. Strong mechanical drawing reading ability and proficiency in office software; skilled in operating measuring instruments and familiar with relevant test equipment performance, test specifications, and requirements in the machinery industry.
5. Language requirements: good communication skills and a working level of English reading/writing, able to communicate with overseas suppliers/customers in writing and verbally.
6. Strong communication, coordination, and project organization skills; able to manage both internal inspection team needs and external supplier relationships simultaneously.
7. Other requirements: willing to travel occasionally to supplier sites for audits/on-site support.
